Orange Retention Offers

Should I feel some shame in calling retentions back in the hope of a better deal? I feel a bit embarrassed for some reason!0

The reason Orange cant give you discounts on the iPhoneis because apple fix the prices.
I agree with what you say, and its exactly what orange were telling me, but its also what they have always told me, until I went through to cancellations.
I tried on 3 occasions, they refused to do any deal... just something, maybe only £30 off anything. But they offered me nothing, I even told them if I went to vodafone, i would get free messages instead of only 500 or having to pay extra 7.50 for the unlimited, but nothing. Which I thought was pretty stupid. I didn't leave for vodafone in the end, but I minimised my contract with orange and now happily use the works blackberry as it has 250mb included, which is hard to use anyway.
My friends friend got his phone for free 32gb on a 40 per month contract he was already on. great deal, I would have been happy with that! But no... wouldn't do it!
My friend who had to wait until after xmas also tried hard on one call, but got the phone for free on a 45 per month contract for 18 months. good deal... but would have been happy with that too.
But me... nothing... im disappointed with myself as i never got a deal, but happy with where I ended up.
If you try / or get the right person on the phone you get what you want, if you dont, then you should either cancel, or do what I did.
I am actually very happy I never got a deal, the only winner as far as I am concerned is ME. My friends done well, but they are paying 40 - 60 per month for the privilege of having a Apple Iphone. I pay 10 for what i was paying 45 for... so saving 35 every month. which is actually more important to me than a Apps I phone, my camera blows the Iphone to bits.Plan

Although my contract isn't up until January, I've just saved myself £90 on nine months line rental...
I was on dolphin 30 (400 minutes) with 10% loyalty discount, plus an unlimited internet bolt on = £37. I've just moved in with the person I was using most of my minutes to, so usage has dropped to around 150 minutes. Typically only using 25-50MB. So... called orange to see if they'd put me on the new dolphin 30, which has 500MB data thrown in. They did, and they're honouring the loyalty discount, so my new monthly package is £27!
I know this isn't technically a retention offer, but I wouldn't have tried if I hadn't read about some of the offers you've been getting. I've been with them so long (10 years, I think) and I've never once tried to get a better deal!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Can anyone advise as I'm a bit of a phone dullard ?
In the process of negotiating with Orange for a phone upgrade and I was very interested in their UMA capable phones as I live in a poor reception area, actually, in fairness all the networks are poor where I live so the choice is limited to either going to Vodaphone for the Sure Signal product which can be used with all mobiles or sticking with Orange and going for one of their UMA phones of which there are only 4, three types of Blackberry and the LG GT505.
They sent me the LG which, as a UMA phone worked really well. Connected with my broadband Livebox no problem so finally I could make brilliant calls from within the house without dropped connections. All good so far BUT there was no way of just using the Wi-Fi part without the damned thing connecting through Orange World and me being charged for it ! So that one went back today.
I'm currently on Racoon30 (18mnth) save £5. 500 X Net, 100 Text, 10% off line rental. Free Broadband. All in with the VAT is £30pm.
They've offered me the Blackberry 9700 Bold which is UMA capable and doesn't have the Wi-Fi issue the LG had.
Does this sound reasonable ? Thanks in advance for any replies.0 -
:-( someone in retentions just explained to me that by cancelling and returning my upgrade I have lost loyalty points so I will not be able to get the same deal as before yet alone something better. Apparently they changed the tariffs on 1st April too, and the things she was able to offer me were really rubbish, including the sim only ones. I asked if she could match any of the 18 month offers available through third parties, but apparently their system could only see 24 month deals.
Seems I have shot myself in the foot by cancelling my upgrade, which is a bit unfair as I shouldn't be penalised for not liking a phone and returning it - but I guess they do want to stop people from re-negotiating deals! I'm disappointed I can't even get the same deal I had cancelled!
Nevermind, and so much for loyalty! I will wait just a few more days to give notice to cancel my contract (ends on 18th May) and I'm sure I'll find a better offer.0 -
Just to let you know the deal I was just offered by Orange retentions!
Free HTC Desire
600 mobile xnet minutes
800 texts
unlimited landline minutes
unlimited internet
All for £22.50 per month on a 24 month contract!
Roll on Monday for delivery0 -
Rang Orange and said I want to cancel...(so that they'd put me through to retentions or offer me deals)...to which the guy said 'Done, you'll get your PAC to use for 30 days'...didn't even ask why I'm leaving or anything!0

They sometimes do that... you'll receive a letter basically asking you to call them as they don't want to lose you... at leats I have done before.0 -

It is quite odd that they wont offer you anything at all, especially not even matching the contracts your friends got.
Perhaps because the contracts changed on april 1st?
I wouldn't go all ouut to get an iPhone on contract, simplynot worth it... I'd be too annoyed when the new one came out.0 -
