Orange Retention Offers

Well I called again. They told me the Desire was out of stock but sold my the Sony Ericsson X10 by telling me how it had all the same specs as the Desire and MORE. I looked it up while on the call and, while I don't agree with that, I DO like the look of it so I went with it.
I think I got:
£28.50 a month
24 months contract
36 months insurance
handset £49.99
800 mins cross network
unlimited internet
not sure about texts etc but all in it is a lot more for less money than what I was getting before
This was the upgrades number, not retentions. Maybe if I went through on that option I might have got better but that seems decent to meI know I should have fought for free handset and 18 month but oh well. I'm not that bolshy. This thread helped a lot in discussing what I got though so thanks.

Been following this thread and thought I'd share my deal:
Been with Orange for 5 years now. Was reluctant to go 24 month but got phone I wanted and cheap monthly fee:
Xperia X10
400mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited web
£20 per month.
Got great deal at end of last contract as well with £250 credit applied to my account, so pleased all in.0 -
By the way if you know anyone at O2 you can get freinds and family discount of 30% even on iPhone!0

Just had the easiest upgrade converversation ever.
I told them I was thinking of upgrading and they asked me what I wanted. I said that last year I had a loyalty discount which meant I was paying £25 a month instead of £35. I said I wanted the same as last year. I also said I wanted the new Desire handset.
He initially offered me free handset, £35 a month 18 months on Dolphin contract upgraded to 1000 free minutes, unlimited texts, upgrade to free internet plus a free internet dongle.
I asked if we could meet in the middle and go for £30 a month. He put me on hold and came back and said he could.
I made some vague comment about price being important and that I had never had an 18 month contract. Wasnt really pushing for more.
Then he pointed out that I didnt really need 1000 minutes as I only use 200 a month and put me on hold again.
Without me asking he then offered me
£27.50 a month
400 minutes,
free handset,
18 month contract,
unlimited texts,
unlimited internet
free internet dongle.
I am very happy with that as I wanted to stay with Orange. Didnt even have to go through to retentions to get what I wanted.
Not sure what has happened to Orange upgrades, I usually have to ring 8 times, threaten to leave and quote numerous better deal ive found elsewhere and only ever get the deal I want by requesting a PAC code. Well done Orange. It does make me wonder if I should have pushed for more but I got what I wanted.
I have the sales mans extention if anyone wants to contact the same nice man.:A0 -

I was just wondering if anyone knew what times Orange upgrades are open. I read its office hours, and are they open on weekends?
I need to get my contract agreed before the 12th so.0 -
They are open weekends, 8am till 10pm off the top of my head0

They are in over the weekend, but not many of them and they have to clear calls in X minutes. You'll get a better deal with more time for the agent to 'play the system' if you call in the week...0 -
just been given a very, very nice offer from Orange for the HTC Desire.0
