My experience is that even if you have been on a lousy deal they are unwilling to give you a good deal. Presume they assume that having been with them for a long time you are unlikely to leave so they don't bother to try to keep you.

I was pretty sold on the iPhone and I was not going to get one from Orang due to their daft download limit and the fact I get money off my O2 Broadband. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It depends what you think a lousy deal is I suppose, the bottom line is Orange are a business and they still have to turn a profit, the days of getting a new top end phone and discounted line rental come upgrade time are gone I'm afraid0

£30 a month when you use maybe 50 mins of calls and about 10 text messages a month, and have been with Orange for over 15 years and certainly do not try and take them for a new phone at every possible moment. Not too worried about that deal as it stoods (paid more to cover the handset I wanted), but rubs it in when they refuse point blank to allow me to move to a cheaper plan even though I am well out of contract.

Trouble is with drbesty that he,s one of Orange,s muppets and won,t have a bad word said about them.
@kickstart...Get from orange there IS better deals out there....A lot better than what orange offer!0 -
I wouldn't listen to someone who doesn't know how to use punctuation or grammar, just pointing out that sometimes you need to be realistic about the deal you're offered, and alot of the retention deals are still far better than what you'd get as a new customer0

I don't think it is realistic to be offered no deal at all while in the mean time charging more than they would charge a new customer. When some mobile phone suppliers will allow you to move down a price plan half way through a contract is is not reasonable to refuse to allow people to move down a price plan once their contract (covering the cost of their handset) has expired.
