    Hi

    Orange have just offered me a free nokia 5800 on a 24 month contract of £13.50 a month giving me 100 minutes, unlimited text and 80mb of web access.

    Can anyone please tell me if this is good. I am a bit worried as the girl I spoke to said the phone only had a 12 month warranty but I would have the phone for 2 years so what if it broke in month 13!!!!

    Thanks
    I think you have just answered your own question here.

    What's with all these 24 month contracts.... Soon it will be 36 months!! :mad:
    The art is not in making money,
    but in keeping it!!!
  • Well I just phoned retensions, I'm currently on 400xmins, 500 texts, and unlimited orange to orange apparently. All for £25 (24 something because of the 15% VAT). I sometimes go over my bill, by a few pounds on the odd month or two. I asked about the Hero and mobile internet and got a rather shocking deal, £46 or £47 for the handset and an extra £5 for the internet ontop of my current £25. Which I was told was the best she could do. She then proceeded to try and sell my the iphone as it was 'only' £5 more a month. Guess I'll have to try again some time.

    I believe most Nokia Phones now have a 24 month warranty. From the Nokia website;

    Warranty Period
    The warranty period starts at the time of Product's original purchase by the first end-user. The Product may consist of several different parts and different parts may be covered by a different warranty period (hereinafter "Warranty Period"). The different Warranty Periods are:
    1. Twenty-four (24) months for the mobile device and twelve (12) months for accessories (whether included in the mobile device sales package or sold separately) other than the consumable parts and accessories listed in (b) and (c) below;
    2. six (6) months for the following consumable parts and accessories batteries, chargers, desk stands, headsets, cables and covers; and
    3. ninety (90) days for the media on which any software is provided, e.g. CD-rom, memory card.

    If its that much of a problem, go buy the £10 handset from Asda to last you 6 days and then you can upgrade and get a better phone.

    I've done that. Unfortunately you can't seem to buy just a handset anymore, I had to buy £10 airtime with it. Bit annoying.

    I don't mind their rules so much it was more the attitude of the person in their call centre. No doubt when I get through to cancellations they'll be lovely! :rotfl:

    Part of the Furniture 10 Posts Combo Breaker
    I'm currently out of contract (18 mths, 40 p/m) with Orange and wish to upgrade my phone.

    I would like an HTC Hero, and have seen an upgrade deal on CW for Racoon £35, 24 months, Unlimited minutes Anytime Landline, 900 minutes Anytime Any network, Unlimited Internet Anytime Any network and 500 texts Anytime Any network. This seems an OK deal to me. Phone is free.

    Would going direct to Orange retentions get me any additional benefits? Would like to get the monthly cost down to £30 ideally. Thoughts?

    I rang back yesterday and got offered 1200 mins and unlimited texts plus free web upto 500mb and a free LG505 for £25 per month,does this seem like a good deal?

    I still would prefer a HTC Hero or even a Samsung Jet but they said that they couldnt do them at that price. I did mention that I would be happy with less minutes as I think 700-800 would me more suited to my needs but they said there system wouldnt allow them to reduce their minutes.

    The GT505 is quite a nice handset, one of a few supporting Orange Maps. Not had much dealings with it myself to know, but if I were you I'd snap that deal up, although I'm not entirely sure what price plan they're on about. Try asking for a Nokia 6700, they're quite good phones and *I think* in the same price bracket as the GT505. Not touchscreen but perfect for everyday use.

    Sorry to bother you again LUFC Girl but do you think theres any mileage in me trying to get my minutes lowered in exchange for a better handset?

    I was wondering if anyone had managed to get a free gift from Orange instead of the usual discounted line rental or new handset.

    Hi

    Thanks for this. I have just spoken to orange again to ask them about it and was told the warrenty with orange is 12 months if the phone breaks down so if it breaks in first 12 months i go through orange and in second 12 months i go through nokia.

    Still not sure I want a 24 month contract though!! Might have to tell them I am disconnecting and see if they can offer me more!! :P

    Thanks again

    The warranty with Orange is 6 months, once the 6 months is up you would have to goto Nokia unless you have care

    Ha that was fun, I just upgraded a fellow MSE'r!

    Steve, I doubt it very much. The minutes and texts are just free add ons we can give to make it better value for the customer. Worth asking them though!
