Orange Retention Offers

  • Hi,

I'm currently on £35 a month for 500 x net mins and unlimited texts, plus Livebox for the home.

My contract is eligible for upgrade, and runs out completely in Jan 2010.

Have read through a number of posts and pages so there's tonnes of info, but was wondering if someone could give me some advice about potential deals? I have seen various sites with much better deals than the one I am on.

I have been an Orange customer for over 4 years and my last two bills have both gone above £40 as I was making a load of extra calls above the 500 in the bundle.

Any advice would be most appreciated.
    £10 a day in November = £593.31 / £300

I have just been offered a 12 month contract
    Sony Ericsson Satio (Free)
500 min any time any network
    unlimited internet
    30 txt messages

All above for £15 month. (Its a 12 month contract)

    Should I take it ???
I think that's a bargain and I'll be trying to get the same deal if I can - is it definitley only a 12 month contract? I thought these were hard to come by nowadays.

I have always been on a 12 month contract. they offered me a 18 month contract which was :-
    Sony Ericsson satio - Free
    600 x minute any time
    300 txt messages
    unlimited internet
    30 pic messages

But I prefer to change my phone after 12 months

You and me both mate... I was determined not to go over a 12 month contract but did in the end....

Look at it like this (just to clarify i'm with t-mobile not Orange but same difference):

    12m @ £35 (cheapest plan I could get for 12m HTC Hero) = £420 - £45 cashback = £31.25 a month or £375 for the term.

18m @ £25 (not cheapest plan but closest mins and texts to above + free web) = £450 - £65 cashback = £21.38 a month or £385 for the term.

Both plans had a free HTC Hero - admittedly the texts were slightly more on the 12m but didn't matter to me.

So I have highlighted the key bit - the total you are liable for is only £10 difference on 12m and 18m.

So if I take the 18m contract and cancel after 12m I only have to pay the remainder up to the £385 total, whereas on the 12m contract if I cancel then I have paid a total of £375...

Hope that all makes sense and shows that you shouldn't discount 18m agreements completely.

Oh and one other thing.... I think some new legislation (ofcom possibly) means that if you cancel your contract early then you don't have to pay VAT on the remaining months payments AND you are also entitled to 25% discount on the remaining months....

If this is the same for Orange then total payable would be £338 on the 18m but cancelling after 12 months.... so actually works out CHEAPER plus if you want to you can carry on for the remaining 6 months if you still like your phone.

Called cancellations at the end of my 12m contract, just been offered HTC Hero, 400 mins+unlimited landline, 300 txts, unlimited internet on an 18m contract for 19.57. Is this good?

I've just been offered the same (less 200 minutes but unlimited texts) for £19.67.
Is this thes best deal I can hope for??

Been an orange customer for years paying £25 p/m and am out of contract. I don't think I was passed to retentions, just the first person I spoke to. Is there anything else I can try to get a better deal?

If you were going over your £25 monthly I would call back an go through to disconnects and say you want to disconnect as not happy with the offer you are on. if they cant beat it then they will say they will start ur 30 days notice at this point just say you will think about it and get back to them. call back later and hopefully after 2 - 3 calls you shuld get through to someone who has not met their quota and will give u a good deal. Also they will say to you that as of beginning november they have stopped select 500 on 12 month contract. this is rubbish as I have just got the contract couple of days ago

Thanks. I barely ever go over my tariff. I'm not too fussed about minutes, more interested in net and texts. Just want to pay as little as poss and a 12 month contact if poss.
My ideal would be a free Hero with 400min, Ultd Texts and net for £15 a month (12 month). I think this might be unrealistic though!
I was offered 200mins ultd texts and net for £19.67 (18 months)
Should I call back and ask to go straight to retentions for my PAC code to see if they offer me better?
  • My contract finishing this month
Thats the offer i got from retentions
currently i am on panther55 paying 35 pounds a month

    now

2200 xnet minutes with unlimited landline and internet and 500 text messgaes
    all that for 39.14
    htc hero for £47.50
I am not ready to pay for hero but i am not getting any better
I am trying and will keep trying
    Any more suggestions if any?
    Thanks

I've just been offered a satio (free)
    800mins x network or 800mins landline calls
    1300 texts
    no internet or pic messages

For only £14.67/mth - BUT it was a 24 month contract.

I explained that I wanted a shorter contract but the lady said no way and made me feel quite ashamed for even asking. I don't need anything like this amount of calls/texts but would like some internet access and definitely a shorter contract. How much did they quote you for the 18 month contract? I will call back when I work up the courage - I hate haggling but need to get as good a deal as I can and save money!
