    Hi Guys

Just thought I would share my latest feedback. I have 2 accounts with Orange and looking to U/G to a good deal. Currently on 35 a month tariff. Just been offered N96 for £195 but they credit back £180 back onto the account with 2 tariff options 1) Either stay on Dolphin35 or 2)£25 month 400 mins and unlimited texts. (through disconnections)

This is for both accounts - thinking of selling one of the phones to make some money back. I know others seem to have got plenty good deals on tariffs so have to make a call on whether I could haggle more? Is the N96 that good etc?

I tried to get a better deal from Orange four times; trying to get the monthly charge down from £15 to £10/month.
In the end I gave up and asked for a PAC number to port my mobile No. to virgin - £10/month sim only 200 anytime minutes & 200 texts.

When I phoned again (due to some confusion on my part) a very nice woman at Orange offered - out of the blue - for £10/ month 300 minutes, 100 texts, free UNLIMITED land line calls & a new Sony Ericsson W595 on an 18 month contract.

I dont think I could get better if I tried for a month!!
    Yippee!!!

Orange seem happy and willing to lose existing customers due an upgrade very quickly, offering much worse deals than to new customers. Why is that?

I was tonight, offerd my PAC code by the upgrade and "retention" teams and this is not the first time. Reading recent message on this thread, I am not the only one. In such a competitve environement you'd think they would be mmmm...competitive?

Certainly seems to be the case when you want a new high-end phone such as the new touch screens (HTC, Samsung, LG). I am quite pleased with the 12mth deal I now have that includes a new LG Renior, 300 mins, 200 texts and 1GB data for the equiv. of £18 per month
  • Hi everyone, new member here so please take it easy lol. Saw Martins online video about Retentions Department when your due for an upgrade so I decided to give it a go this morning. I wanted the HTC Touch HD. I'm currently with Orange and paying £30 a month. I looked online and found this number 0800 0790272 so gave it a go. I told them I was after my PAC code to leave Orange for a better deal I'd seen with O2. The guy was really pleasant and said had I been through to retentions before. Told him no. He made me some great offers which beat the online ones for new customers hands down. I advised him of the phone I wanted and he got me down to £15 a month straight away. £48.50 upgrade for the phone though. I kept asking what else can he offer and moaned about the current inancial status etc and how i didnt want to leave Orange but would have to to save money. He finally came back with a £10 a month, 18 month long contract, 300 xnet minutes, unlimited calls to landlines and 100 texts. Same price for the upgrade. I tried and tried byt this was as low as they were prepared to go. He said in month 19 if i didnt upgrade the handset it would drop to £5 a month in autumn 2010. Even said I'd call O2 to see if they can better it but he wasn't biting. He said he'd make a note of the deal on my account if i changed my mind offer was still open. So i left it a few hours and rang back and accepted the offer. New phone due tomorrow, snow permitting! Thanks to Martin & Lara's video, my contract is the same as before execpt £20 a month less, cant really go wrong for a £10 a month. I have seen the posts about how poor some peoples offers have been but all I can comment on is the service I received, and the offer exceeded my best expectations. Thanks Martin!

Phone received today and as a nice surprise included is a 8gb micro sd card. Makes a good deal even better

Yes well done... it's interesting and to be honest perfectly correct... that the best deals go to existing customers.... rather than the new one's.... it's almost the complete opposite to insurance companies!

I'll be with T mobile for the next 12mths now... so look forward to negotiating a retention deal with them in 2010.

From experience and having worked for o2 in the past alot of it is to do with who you get through, their experience and common sense. Advisers seem to take it personally like they are giving their money away. Only way is to be nice as hell and hope for the best. Not rung Orange back yet but I think I shouldl get a better deal than been offered
