Orange Retention Offers

The system works out your average spend over the last 6 months (how many mins and texts you use out of your bundle) and that give your 'worth as a customer'. Any upgrade or retentions deal is based on this figure.
What do you mean exactly? Does it mean that they prefer you to....
1) use as close to all your inclusive minutes and texts as possible?
2) go over your inclusive minutes/texts- i.e. spend more than your monthly tariff?
3) have a more expensive tariff?
My contract ended last week and retentions aren't offering me a good deal- they say they can't offer me better. My current bill is rarely over £30 per month and includes 500mins and 250 texts and 250Mb data. I usually use about 340-400mins and about 150 texts. When I upgrade my phone I am likely to use it more because basically my current phone is pants. I will probably use it more like 500-600mins and 300-400texts.
What should I do to get a better deal? Should I....
1) try and use more of my inclusive minutes/texts for the next few months and then try retentions again?
2) go on a more expensive tariff for the next few months (assuming I don't get locked into another contract)?
Or should I try an move to pay as you go for 3 months and then try again as a new customer?Moneysaving since 2004!0 -

You should 3) go over your minutes and messages.
They want you to spend as much as possible obviously! If your on a £30pm contract and using 50 texts and 100 minutes then they are making alot more money off you that you using right up close to your limit.
Of all those options for your move forward, going to PAYG and trying again as a new customer is probably the worst IMO. You will then lose any loyalty bonus you had with them.0 -

I don't think I have any loyalty reward with them. They are offering much better deals to new customers than what they are offering me. They are offering me the phone for £108 for a £40 per month contract where as they are offering the phone for free to new customers on a £35 contract.Moneysaving since 2004!0 -

Off the topic - Baritone? You in a band of some sort? DCUK mean anything to you?0 -
After ringing on a few occasions, I finally managed to get a good deal from Orange. Seeing is believing though. My contract ends in a couple of weeks and I was told someone will ring me back on that day to confirm and get my new handset sent out.
I was offered:
Free C902
18 month contract
300 mins
100 txt
Free off peak web
in car charger
4 bg mem card
For £15 a month.
As I say, I had to ring several times. Different people have given me different offers which have mainly been not very good at all. I'm not sure why one person can offer something so much better than another. Also the above is based on my actual contract end date - others told me to ring back on that day (why couldn't they have told me what I can get come my contract end?).0 -
Hi again folks,
managed to broker this deal with Orange today - think its pretty decent
Currently:
£20 a month for:
300 x-net anytime minutes
400 x-net anytime SMS
Unlimited off-peak and weekend SMS
Also had £5 off-peak and weekend data added on so £25 a month
Now
£15 a month
600 x-net anytime minutes
unlimited x-net anytime SMS
500mb anytime data.
Had to pay £129 for desired handset (HTC Touch HD), but got £210 credited to my account
Sound reasonable chaps?
Cheers0 -
I'm just moving from a Orange business to a Orange domestic account...
I wanted the HTC Touch Pro but I may as well forget that... they want £35 pm for it... with 700mins, 100 texts, free landlines and 256mb data
On the LG Renior, on Racoon 30, they could offer 500 mins, 100 texts, free landlines but data would cost £5 more for 500mb
Not great offers in my opinion0 -
Really struggling with Orange atm.
Nokia N85
400 min
Unlimited Text.
£195.50 for the phone, with £200 credit.
18 month.
I like the 5800, so asked what Sim Only deals they could do.
12 month
400 min
unlimited texts
- £25!!!

I've now managed to get...
LG Renior, on Racoon 30, with 500 mins, 100 texts, free landlines and 256mb data each month on a 18mth contract for £24 but I can't beat that anywhere....
I haven't gone for it yet... I'm unsure really whether to hold on and also I haven't looked at the handset in the flesh yet.0
