With Barclays and Natwest my card and PIN were sent in 1 letter. The PIN area was either to be rubbed off with a coin or can be seen very faintly in a grey area with lots of lines, from personal experience.
In that case I might have slightly misremebered what it was like, but either way separate or not I would still prefer to collect my acount opening welcome pack from the branch.

Sadly you sound very isolated - that it is difficult for you to go far (because you write about needing a courier to deliver to you). Is that the case? If not, I would recommend making an appointment with Metro Bank if it is somewhere you could get to, even if it is not close. Check with them what ID you would need for an account opening and you should be able to walk away with a card and PIN.0

The nearest town to me with all the major UK banks is literally 12 mins by car or 4 and a bit miles, which is nothing. It's just a case of me figuring out when I will be alone because my relative is not working and 99.9% of time is at home with me which really complicates working on my plans for my freedom around his constant presence (a whole different topic here), but definitely not a case of distance issue. The whole alone time I have is when he goes grocery (once roughly every 2 weeks) shopping or medical appointment (once a month). So the combined total in hours I have as to myself is less than 5 hours for the month, but like I said that's for a different topic. So I have to do everything behind his back and have a just-in-case-I-get-caught-in-the-act-cover story.

I've nothing to add to the great advice you're getting from some very knowledgeable forumites but felt I had to say 'good luck' in what sounds like a very difficult situation.1

Does your phone have Google/Apple Pay?
If it's secure enough from the relative then I'm fairly certain my Monese account didn't send me any information etc. by post, and gives you the option to have a virtual card instead of a physical card.1 -
I would doubt that any bank would send the 1st card to a address other than the home address. Unless it is a branch, for which you are going to need photo ID as well as a bill at a guess. Sending a PIN to a branch is also going to be a problem. As it is a security risk (card & pin at branch at same time)
Best bet is to phone or visit your chosen bank and ask them. They will know their own procedures.Life in the slow lane0 -
Another option is for Royal Mail to hold all your mail for you until you collect it from their sorting office in person. You can investigate their Keepsafe and PO Box options. Just make sure the bank can open an account using eg a PO Box number - I would apply in branch and explain the situation.0

The keepsafe idea sounds good to me.
I am guessing the bank will send me the letter as they normally would to any person, and once the Royal Mail gets hold of it they wouldn't post it to my address but actually hold it until I can go and collect it myself, if this is how it works?
