Healthspan are offering 180 tabs of 1000mg Glucosamine for £2.95 Rest of the advert in my caravan mag relates to products the same price as online Healthspan so if you want the cheap glucosamine (and can't get it on prescription) you'll have to phone 0800 73 123 77
If you get the order to £15 you can have £2 off by quoting CAR-HA ends 31/05/06
You may want to check the website for the sale price items which you could add to your phone order.

Ted, I phoned Healthspan today and they informed me that the 180 tabs of 1000mg Glucosamine for £2.95 are only equivalent to 750mg of Glucosomine and you will need 2 tabs/day to get the recommended dose of 1500mg.
I was trying to find out the most economical way to purchase 1500mg of Glucosomine and 300mg of Chondroitin and she informed me that Chondroitin is not sold on its own so I can only see the expensive route of Glucosamine Tablets with Marine Chondroitin, MSM and Vitamin C
at 360 tabs £17.95. This is a 3 a day recommended dose so 120 days supply.
Is there a more economical route without compromising quality?

    Simply Supplements Glucosamine Sulphate 1000mg 360 £8.89
Glucosamine Sulphate 500mg Plus 'Marine' Chondroitin Sulphate 400mg 360 £16.99 You would have 360@1500 glucosamine and 400 chondroitin for £25.88 which would be post free over £17 and £2 discount over £20 so actually only £23.88

 Cheers - actually it seems the Healthspan code BWTL-GM18 works for anything. I just ordered some flexi joint tablets for my dogs as two separate orders and used the code for both. With free p&p as well it seems a good deal :T
  • Did use glucosamine on my dog when she had arthritis and found it a godsend. Would like to encourage my father in law to try it out as he is also suffering. just to clarify he'd take one of each of these tablets to get his daily dose. Does his gp have to be consulted first?
you go all your life thinking that money and comfort will bring you happiness only to find all you need is something to be enthusiastic about.:j

I have never heard of anyone having a bad reaction to Glucosamine or Chondroitin. They are sold without any health warnings so I cannot imagine it would be necessary to consult with his doctor. However as it is a prescribable product asking his doctor about it might encourage him to fill out a prescription.
If you are worried about interactions with any of the medications he is taking you could use the checker Drug Interactions checker

Glucosamine can reduce the effectiveness of diurectics. It's always a wise plan to have a word with one's GP when planning to take over the counter medication long term.

While this sounds sensible I am certain asking your GP about vitamin d3 would probably not get you the cancer preventing and health promoting advice supported by the latest vitamin d3 research.

It is most likely that your GP will stick with official advice and the recommended RDA. I doubt there is any Vitamin D3 researcher in the world, who would support the current official UK Vitamin D3 RDA. It would be interesting to hear how many of the top Vitamin d3 myths your GP would trot out.

Your current medications should be identifiable in the drug checker provided earlier and should show any interactions between them and glucosamine. I've entered all the Diuretic's I can think of, and none of those has turned up a reaction with glucosamine but that's not say Dora isn't correct and there aren't some that shouldn't be used with glucosamine. Dora clearly has more faith in her GP than I have in mine.

Not at all Ted. I have faith in the medical profession who get it right far more frequently than they get it wrong.
