Do we need folic acid in our bread?

I wonder if the approximately 2001 parents of UK children born with Neural Tube Deficits as a result of UK medics prevarications will agree with you?
It's a pity it takes our medical professionals over 10yrs to get it right.

Sensible people will ensure they are aware of all the benefits and drawbacks of self medication before embarking on it and my post was intended to inform. Your point is valid, however these 2001 cases are set in hundreds of millions of episodes of consultation and treatment.Ted_Hutchinson wrote:Look at the dates on these articles.

Glucosamine And Chondroitin 30 Tabletsphoebe03cat wrote:Tesco's have it on BOGOFF at the moment. Don't know how it compares?
Buy 1 Get 1 FREE - add 2 for offer £10.99(£0.37/each)
This offer brings the price per tablet down to 18.5p
Compared to Simply Supplements price of 4.7p each.
Simply supplements S132 - 180 + 180=360 @ £16.99
Glucosamine Sulphate 500mg + Marine Chondroitin Sulphate 400mg
Unless the Tesco version contains 1500mg Glucosamine + 1200mg of Chondroitin (which I doubt) I suspect they are very very poor value even on bogoff. Even if 1 18.5p TESCO's tab = 3x 4.7p SS tabs=14.1p you are still better off buyiing from SS.
But I don't know the actual contents of the Tesco tabs. They say high strength but I can't read the label from the screen. I'd be surprised if they are more than 750mg Gluco= 600mg chondroitin but possibly, knowing how Tesco vits are usually rip off prices, (my bet) they are just 500-400's if that.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Hello, just a note to say thanks for all your advice, I've bought some Glucosamine and some other items from http://www.simplysupplements.co.uk
I am very happy with the service they have provided, especially because of the speedy delivery (3 days from the date of order) and the free postage and packing on their website is a steal!0 -

Placed an order with Simply Supplements on 17th May - Still waiting for delivery! Phoned them to-day and first of all they blamed the postal service from Guernsey -"there have been problem" then when I told them that I placed an order with Healthspan on the same day and I got those items several days ago - they gave me some blurb about it being foggy and the ferries being held up! what a load of tosh. SS may be cheap but if this is the sort of service they give - forget it!! Incidentally, saw the Doc this week and he said that there was a medical debate about glucosamine as to whether it does any good or not. He also looked in his book and again said that he could not prescribe them.Hewitt51 wrote:Hello, just a note to say thanks for all your advice, I've bought some Glucosamine and some other items from URL="http://www.simplysupplements.co.uk"]http://www.simplysupplements.co.uk[/URL]

Hello, Mr OAP has arthritis in his knee, (had a hip joint replacement twenty years ago) Our doctor has prescribed Glucasamin 500 mg with chondroitin 400 mg one twice a day, these are free as they are on prescription, he is 75 so maybe they will do it for pensioners, I do not really know, but they do work and are saving him having an op. If you actually have arthritis why not go to your Doctor and see if you can get them on prescription. It was costing us a lot of money buying them ourselves. Hope this helps, regards Mrs oap0

My wife was taking Glucosamine but suffered a DVT and stopped, the Docs were not aware of it and therefore, quite reasonably, had no comment.
I emailed Healtspan to ask their opinion but to date, over a month, there has been a stony silence.
Any one got on comments on this.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0
