NST June 2021: Jolly simple

Gosh, I love that @apple_muncher and @mothernerd. I have written it out.
I have woken up with a somewhat more positive perspective and set myself some challenges for the month that fit with this month's Jolly simple June. I haven't set out my stall yet, maybe tomorrow. But each day I will do something to nurture myself, nourish myself and be out in nature. I am also going to follow the Action for happiness 'Joyus June' calendar. I will post all about that over on my debt-free diary.
Yesterday's gratitudes:
- I submitted something for my postgrad course (fingers crossed)
- I ate quite well
- A NSD - I may well have made15 last month, but not sure!3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000
Stocks and shares ISA: £1497
Additional pension contributions £0
Overpayment on mortgage: £0
Big Renno..£07 -
Happy June!! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and it is half term.Perfect timing for the start of an @apple_muncher simplicity challenge.Waiting for DH to get up and have breakfast before I mither him about the mortgage balance - today all the bills go out and over-payments get made. Then the budget is set for the rest of the month.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I love that quote. It's exactly what I need to be thinking about.
So my plan this month is to organise and simplify all aspects of my life. The two go hand in hand, I guess. If I can just accomplish something everyday that will be a start.
It's another beautiful day here so I'm having tea and toast (that's one of my aims. To eat something in the morning even if it's just toast.) then I'm going to water the plants and see if I can get Himself to get to get out of bed.
I'll check in later.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -

NSD No 1
I've had a simple, productive day. Banking and budget done and I've made sure I have the cards and presents I need for this month's birthdays - just a couple. Did a bit of housework, tidied a couple of drawers in the bedroom and disposed of some (quite a lot, actually) underwear, socks, etc which I know I will never wear again. Also put some things in the bin that I've been meaning to get rid of for ages.
My new good habits. Eating healthily, no snacking and no alcohol. I hear you all groan and think she says that every month and doesn't get past day1. Managed today and really determined this month. I must, must lose some weight. I've put on so much during lockdown. Friends are joining us for our October holiday as a cruise they had booked has been cancelled today so that might spur me on.
It's been a beautiful day and I've spent a lot of time outside. Plants are coming along. Sunflowers are growing a vast rate of Knots. After dinner I'm going for along bath and a bit of pampering and then I'm starting a new book.
A few plans for tomorrow.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
@Toni'sfriend - if you don't buy it, you can't eat/drink it! Meal planning is your friend -even if Himself is not onboard.Lovely relaxing day today, easy food, sunshine, then reading in a north facing room because it is just so hot - 23 degrees!I am making progress with eating from the pantry, have a few puddles of emptiness on the shelves (very exciting - doesn't happen very often) . I also seem to have acquired another ridiculously huge stash of ys flour of every variety (even spelt and rye) so I will restart my soda bread baking efforts as everyone likes it, it is stupidly easy, it is quick, lovely, and uses up flour!! Also will use up some of my currant mountain.I will be meal planning based around what I already have, clear some of the decks - I have been bringing far too much food into the house lately. It is not money saving unless I start eating it before buying any more.Today was not a NSD as I had to buy H3nryH00ver bags from the Big River Shop - see, a glimpse of life behind the glamourand I paid out all the bills, and overpaid bits I did not need to, but I wanted to. So I did.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Was a small spend today. Topped up oyster card and got next week's tv guide.
Grateful for:
For a shared food/drinks do in work.
Nice time with work colleagues.
Getting a thank you certificate and badge for work.
Having a short walk this evening.
Did not have to cook dinner tonight as I had enough to eat in work.

NSD 1 - a better start than last month when I didn’t stop spending until week 2! 😂Had a decent day. Work was fine. Got the last of the caravan laundry washed and dried very quickly thanks to sun and the warm breeze. The house is very warm this evening but we can’t open the windows too wide. We’ve got some new lodgers in our porch roof - woodtree bees! Trying to do our bit for the environment by leaving them alone but a little concerned with them being right under DS’s window, at our front door (we’re currently using the back door), and that they have dived at us a couple of times. Will keep an eye on them and hopefully we can all get on with our busyness in harmony.Grateful today for a warm sunny day, clearing the laundry mountain, good colleagues.

I hope that today won't be typical of the month ahead - I've spent about £200. Eek. A three-year railcard (cheaper than buying one for the next three years), train tickets using the aforementioned railcard, m+s items required by dd and mum, other items for dd from Ge0rge.Today I am grateful for arranging dd's social calendar so it's manageable, for being able to book everything to see mum (including a slot to actually see her in!), for time out in the garden, for my counsellor who I saw live and in person, for the bus app which lets me know whether to wait or walk.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Happy 1st June! Another scorcher here, but Mrs Sturgeon has announced that our islands will go into tier 0 from Saturday 😃
Got up slightly earlier today & completed the first of a 30 day yoga video on utoob. I know I'm no longer flexible, hoping that by the end of the month, when I sit cross-legged, my right knee will no longer be just about touching my chin!! Wondering if I should start with a beginner's routine instead, as it's been a couple of years since I last did it? School went ok, rushed home as I've now completed No Mow May, so I could get the lawn mower out. All grass cut before tea, washed up afterwards, unpicked a zip, took my turn in the bath, then decided that 9.30 was too late to start sewing, so thinking of heading off to bed soon & reading my book. It's called The Woman who Went to Bed for a Year. Quite amusing in places!
Grateful for doing the yoga despite it being difficult, I felt good afterwards, cutting the grass, planning an end of term meal with the other support staffUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
