Never actually looked at these threads properly before. But looking at the items on the front it seems like something good to have a go at in June.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.6

Jolly – do something daily to make yourself happy. Laugh aloud. Giggle at your witty thoughts.- will be looking at positive things also that I have done each day.
Overview your finances: I will continue to put money aside for savings. No debt or mortgage.
Look at your good habits and smile. Add another one this month. It can be a brand new one, a resurrection of one that has dropped by the wayside, or a consolidation of one. – Will be continuing to do some self care, eg reading, mindfulness colouring.
Look after yourself physically. No stressing, but what can you do to keep well? – Looking to improve my sleep and rest as I have been getting tired.
You need fresh air. Will try and go out for walks when I can when I am not working.
Simplicity is this month’s aim. – Will look at shifts at work as I now have to book shifts myself. I know that one week I have booked quite a few shifts. I do have a week off work, as I have not booked any shifts.
Invest in yourself. What do you want to do/learn/research by the end of the month? By the end of the year? In the next 5 years? – In the next few years I wish to move into a bungalow. Still thinking about location.
Mental health is paramount. Look after yours and ask for help where you need to. – Planning to do things to help my mental health. Also planning to buy a weighted blanket this month.
Plan the month – financial commitments; social commitments; clubs/groups; shopping deliveries (yep, life is that exciting) – Sorted out budget for the month for each category, also planning items that I want to order – wrote list and prices. Plan to order items online when I am off work.
Look at your frogs and swallow one or two. Spot any tadpoles that you can squish before they grow? Most probably be catching up with some household chores.
Extend a hand to others. – Will make a donation to charity.
Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20137 -
Pinch, punch, first of the month! No returns. And we're off. Let me start with quoting something mothernerd wrote yesterday as to me it sums up living simply and full of joy:What if I want to live simply
To drink coffee and watch the sunrise with nowhere to go
To climb a mountain for the view not the selfie
To cook healthy wholesome food to nourish my body, not to lose weight
To spend more time with my family, not working to afford things we don't need
It's time to slow down. To stop. To listen.
It's time to turn off the noise and distractions, the constant need for more, the comparisons and consumerism.
It's time to live simply and Be Wild and Free
Helen Munday (cue John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett)
