We don't use that product, however I can tell you that the Beautifully Butterfly product hasn't had a foil covering for a long time now...

Fairly certain a number of spreads/lurpaky things have gone for a paper cover if anything.

Eco packaging? If you have a plastic lid as well as a foil seal, I can see the logic in doing away with one & anyway the product is robustly chemical - a reasonable shelf life is designed in.

I'm sure it is to help with eco-credentials (and to reduce costs without reducing the shelf price).

But, it's not just about shelf life: Anti tamper mechanisms to stop people contaminating products. (The plastic lids on spreads can easily be removed) and replaced with no evidence.

Also to prevent leaks (e.g. squeezy bottles of Ketchup, Salad Cream, Milk) -- they all have a screw-on plastic top AND a foil seal -- for a reason.

Another packaging reduction I've noticed is ALDI's Diplomat Red Label Tea, which used to have stacks of e.g. 80 bags, individually plastic or foil sealed, within a larger box giving 160 or 240. Now, it's a loose jumble of bags inside a thin card box.

Just hope they don't dispense with the plastic lids altogether like they have with cottage cheese. ☹️

and a lot of the cream currently sold everywhere!

....I'm off to see if the plastic lids I bought for the cat's food tins will fit on the cottage cheese.......I suppose those little stretchy silicon type ones will, if I had any.

    Mine had nothing.

I bought some cream from Sainsbury's last night in the cutest containers (RTC at 19p):

This is a warning for anyone buying the Italiamo pizza flour from Lidl. Bought some today, the bag weighs 1kg apparently. Got it home read the instructions, used 500g of flour, then thought I would weight the remainder - 332g.
That is a big difference, pretty unacceptable IMHO. The bag wasn't part filled either.
I am going to complain on Monday because that is out of order.
