Chocolate oaties are their version of chocolate hobnobs. As an alternative I've been buying their dark chocolate digestives, which as someone else mentioned further up the thread are also good.

Has anyone been using the 30% off bakery items after 7pm app voucher? Is there much left in the bakery section at that time?
I often nip in after 7pm and the fresh bakery is pretty much depleted at that time. Anything there has been sitting exposed and under lights for some time, so I wouldn't bother. No objection to buying packaged bakery items at 30% off, though.

I bought an Aldi frozen roast beef dinner and cooked it today.

I wish I hadn’t.  The roast beef was a few tiny bits of what looked like braised beef in an onion gravy.  The vegetables were peas and carrots.  20 peas and 10 tiny pieces of carrot. The Yorkshire pudding was 2ins across.   :o. There were quite a few potatoes but they were tiny.  I couldn’t get the potatoes to crisp up, they remained soggy.  I cooked them in my halogen oven in which I have cooked loads of roasties before.

after a few mouthfuls it went in the bin.  I gave the bits of meat to the cat but she turned up her nose.

This is supposed to serve an adult not a 3 year old.

I dug out some home made Beef Rendang from the freezer and dined like a King.  It was lovely.

That kind of thing is always a bit... meh.

If you're looking for frozen ready meals at Aldi, I'd suggest the vegan Thai Green Curry.   For extra VFM, the Chicken Tikka Masala is very good.   Also, the Slimming World-style dishes.

In chilled, I'd recommend the Bistro Lasagne - pricey but very good.

Aren’t these priced at just over a pound? Bit of a clue there as to what you’re going to get.

    How much did it cost?
You need to put these things into perspective.
Do you really expect beef, Yorkshire pudding & veg for the price you paid?

I've bought these a couple of times for MiL when we've been caught short for something to serve her.  Chicken dinners seem to be better than beef for the most part.  And Lidl's seem nicer than Aldi's.  Granted I've never tried them myself.

Yes, cheap and small but she doesn't have a big appetite and has never been a gourmet.  Obviously M7S's are much nicer and we do get her those when we can find a shop open.

That said she did declare at some point that she would prefer tomato soup so that's what we have in reserve now.

    New products at Aldi:-

    - Sandwich Thins now have two more varieties, which are Best of Both (6 pack) and High Protein (4 pack).  All varieties 65p.

Some price rises are definitely starting to creep in at A & L.   The 200g French Brie which had been 79p for years and years, is now 85p in both stores.

Austrian specials start at Lidl tomorrow.  Lots to recommend and we'll be stocking up on the spatzle.

Watch out for the schnitzel though.  It's all lovely but there's one type they often have which is not huge but cooks easily in the oven.  The others tend to need to be fried which won't suit everyone.

And don't buy the black forest ice cream because that's all mine.

     :D

Why does Lidl devote so much shelf space to honey, yet there is no lemon curd?
