I was in Lidl on Monday morning and picked up 4.2 Kg of chicken breasts reduced from £9.99 per 2.1 Kg pack to £6.99 and pork shoulder steaks for £2.09 for 4 and a 6 pack for £3.49 reduced plus a pork loin 1 Kg joint for £3.49. I did notice another 2.1 Kg pack of chicken but I left that.Someone please tell me what money is2

This perfectly illustrates why there is such a wide range in the amount that people spend on food. We all have to buy it, but for some it is one of the biggest joys in life and for others it's purely functional. I guess most people are somewhere between those two.
Personally, it's one of the last areas I would cut down on - I'll shop around for the best deal on the brands I like, but I won't trade down to a cheaper option unless it really is just as good. Mind you, I think a lot of the famous brands have reduced quality over the years and I buy a lot more niche brands these days.Someone please tell me what money is1 -

re UBD eggs - the problem is that with properly free range eggs you don't know how long the egg has been sat on before it gets picked up and shipped off to market. We occasionally get a really rotten egg but that's because the eggs are from a local farm and someone has to go and stick their hand under the chicken's butt to find them. Not always easy.
And speaking of butts..... Hoping to pop into Lidl either later today or first thing tomorrow to get their motion sensor LED toilet bowl light. Oh Butt! Sadly the toilet bowl light is not available in my local. Looks like I'm going to have to pay 4 times the price from Amazon!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. New products at Aldi:-
- A new variety has been added to the Fibre Now cake bars - Cinnamon Squares.
- Satay Chicken Skewers seem to have become BBQ Chicken Skewers. Not sure if this is a festive change, or whether we'll eventually have both.0 -

Whatever your point is, I don't think M&S food is 3+ times better than Aldi.0
