@maman
Likely as successful as my wish to continue using cheques instead of a debit card......such is progress!
I suspect that the 2 new Lidls opening in our area in the next couple of weeks are bound to have self service. Sigh.
On the plus side - they do have the very large pack of smoked trout in stock. £5.99 for about 300g. It was very nice last year when we had some for Christmas. Shame this pack has a bbd of 8th Dec. Guess I'll have to just gobble it all up.

With a basket or box full of groceries and another box to put them in, you can scan as fast as Lidl staff do on the main tills, which is great.
The round amounts (20p, 70p, £1.50, etc) items usually just go through without a fuss. Sometimes the instruction is to remove the item but you can usually carry on scanning normally.
It is rarely that staff have to check item. That said, it is still a good idea to keep such items together just in case.3 -
I can't believe how moreish Lidl's pineapple cottage cheese is! Despite being cottage cheese it still manages to hit the spot.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2 -
I'm ashamed to admit that I ate some of the Lidl chocolate marzipan bar last night. It was meant to be off limits until Christmas. Lush though. 😋

Unfortunately it's doomed to fail. In our city centre Lidl store, they frequently don't have a staffed check out open.1 -
briskbeats said:.The Lidl which I use was opened 3 years ago and no self scans. Yet in the student areas, they have them in their stores.
I have often wondered how much in general gets stolen with self serve. I would suspect maybe it's just the 15-20p bags but who knows!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I bought enough for about 5 days - had a small freezer for the odd YS item.0
