Oh and I meant to ask.....any vegan/veggies out there??  Have you tried the nut roasts currently selling in Lidl.  They're in with the seasonal stuff.  Smallish loaf shaped box, £2.19, 3 different varieties I think.  I wondered if they are any good.

Must admit I've only had nut loaf once and that was a very very long time ago and wasn't impressed but the host of the dinner party wasn't much of a cook.

We've got a seasonal celebration shop for the food bank coming up and I wanted to ensure we got an alternative to tinned ham.  But only if it's worth eating.

If it's the same as the one I had a couple of years ago (came with its own cardboard baking tray thing) I wasn't that impressed.

If you want a recommendation for a hot veggie dish, I'd suggest the Aldi Lattices (a spinachy one, and a goats cheese one) - they are delicious, and good VFM.   Probably taste okay cold after cooking, I'd guess.   Not vegan, tho.

Or for finger-food, Aldi Falafel (various flavours).

Thanks for that - yes it describes what they have very well.  I bought one to show willing on the weekend but won't buy more unless someone confirms they have improved.

And yes - I'd quite go for a spinach/goat's cheese pie but unless it comes in a tin or box then the food bank won't take it.  Can't be anything that needs refrigeration.

Ah, okay.  The Lattices are frozen - take about 20 mins to cook.

The Falafels are chilled, so not those, either by the sounds of it.

Struggling to think of anything "ambient" at all.

Not very festive but I buy tins of macaroni cheese from Lidl as a vegetarian option for the food bank. I think they're 55p.

    @Cornucopia and @maman
Thanks for the suggestions.  Mac & cheese!  A nice easy option!!
Is there anything like a falafel mix?  Anywhere??  Not just Lidl (or Aldi) but I must admit because I'm spending the ££ on behalf of a large group of work colleagues I like to be able to as much as I can.

We've got a couple of colleagues who have a personal or work relationship with one of the other supermarkets and are leaning on them to use their staff discount or influence.   All's fair in fundraising!!

Yes - in fact there are various veggie dry mixes in the big supermarkets.   Morrisons has quite a range.

They look dry and carboard-y to me. I bought the frozen lattices a couple of years ago - 2 veggie flavours - and was surprised how nice they were. I think Aldi does better Christmas food for veggies.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

The lattices are for life, not just for Christmas.   :)

Aldi's Lentil Curls are back after an absence of a few weeks.

We all know the story... product comes back after being absent for a while.   It has new packaging and, sadly, it's not quite as good as it was before.    75p for 6x 20g bags.
