It was 55p in Lidl yesterday - was considering slipping a bar into my basket but was put off by the price hike of a few pence from last time I bought it!Katiehound said:Could hardly believe my eyes yesterday- the cheapie essentials chocolate in Aldi has gone up to 77 pence a bar ( was 55 pence very recently)No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Anything chocolate based has shot up, just look at the biscuit prices with choc on as well. It does gripe me that Home Bargains and B&M can sell the 180g bars of Cadburys for £1.89 yet the bog standard Aldi chocolate is now more expensive (subjective if its better, sometimes the Dairy Milk still made in the UK can be good) and the Aldi Milk Chocolate can be more bitter.1

Has anyone else noticed that Lidl's maple syrup no longer specifies a country of origin? previously they'd proudly shown a maple leaf and said Canada Grade A or whatever. Now the back label just gives the address of the Lidl UK office. Wondering if it's an attempt to avoid tariffs if they are providing the same bottles to the US or if they don't want to admit they are selling US syrup. Or syrup from somewhere completely other.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Last week I was using some dried chickpeas and was surprised to see that the country of origin was Russia (I had had them in for quite a while). So I looked through the other stuff in my pantry to see if there was anything else from countries whose produce I’d prefer to avoid, and most things I’d bought recently had no country of origin identified. The items were nuts, dried fruit, pulses, sugar, flour, from various supermarkets. I wonder if removing this information is a Brexit “benefit” - hope those quotation marks won’t be interpreted as being too political !Brie said:Has anyone else noticed that Lidl's maple syrup no longer specifies a country of origin? previously they'd proudly shown a maple leaf and said Canada Grade A or whatever. I know a female teacher who took her primary class to a farm to see cows being milked because most of them had no idea of the connection between cows and plastic containers of milk. After the children had told their parents the school received a letter of complaint from one mother about the ‘disgusting’ spectacle the children had been exposed to by this ‘perverted’ teacher.PLRFD said:I was shocked when I found out where my eggs come from.8 -
😂 I don’t like the guy but I once saw Jamie Oliver holding up a potato to class of youngsters he says what’s this boys and girls ? He was met with silence.Doc_N said:

I remember my school cook was getting hassle from a parent who was forcing her DD to eat vegetarian. The child obviously didn't want to as she kept asking for the meat option. The parent was adamant that her child wasn't to eat 'anything with a face'.
I told the cook to be sure never to give her potato smileys! At least it cheered the cook up. 🤣4 -
Funnily enough I bought some last Tuesday. It seemed to be 100% maple syrup so I didn't even think to look for the country of origin.Brie said:Has anyone else noticed that Lidl's maple syrup no longer specifies a country of origin? previously they'd proudly shown a maple leaf and said Canada Grade A or whatever. @robrymond - I popped into Poundstretcher yesterday and was taken aback by a basket of McVities chocolate biscuits. The packs looked to be about 400g and cost £2.99!! Prices are just crazy. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
