But, Cornucopia, you said, "The Tescos "Stockwell" brand had 0% tomatoes - it was made with puree."Cornucopia said:
It's not just that it is made from Tomato Puree, but that the puree content is only 55%.General_Grant said:What is tomato puree if not tomato?
I thought that it was interesting that we've been talking on and off about these price comparisons with A & L, and how they are price comparisons, not quality comparisons... and here's a direct comparison of ingredients that appears to confirm that argument.
I'd assumed that it was tomato puree - but it was written as though puree was something other than tomato and therefore the tomato soup contained no tomato.

Perhaps the public shaming will encourage more people to head out to Aldi in preference if they have one in the vicinity?Doc_N said:
They’re widespread - or at least they have been. Possibly they’ve now had to withdraw the worst examples after the exposure by the BBC. That’s what seems to be behind the recent dropping of 150 price match claims. The oranges used by Tesco, for example, were Class 2, but the Aldi ones were Class 1.Cornucopia said:

I see these claims as little short of fraudulent.
Its been a long time since I last did any shopping at Tesco. But equally when I went to Aldi at the weekend, nothing was jumping off the shelves begging me to buy it either. Everything has become far more expensive these days.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.5

The only time I use the likes of Tesco is when there is a deal on, or want something Aldi/ Lidl don't do.Rosa_Damascena said:Perhaps the public shaming will encourage more people to head out to Aldi in preference if they have one in the vicinity?

Unfortunately I’m stuck with home deliveries and Tesco is the best of a bad bunch. Used to use Aldi click and collect until they dropped it. I am now however something of an expert on Aldi price match items, and a large number of them have had noticeably inferior ingredients. Obviously, the branded items don’t vary, but the own label ones, particularly when Tesco are using one of their sub-brands to price match, certainly do.HillStreetBlues said:

Has anyone tried this (currently Italian week at Lidl)? And if so, would you recommend it?

I've had that range before - quite nice, but quite small for the price.Rosa_Damascena said:Has anyone tried this (currently Italian week at Lidl)? And if so, would you recommend it?3

My local Lidl was giving away excess bakery stock today (presumably over-ordered for the Feb bakery promotion).
They had devised an in-store equivalent to the Spin of Surprises to determine which treat you'd get.3

That is good to know! The last time they ran this promotion I ended up shopping there daily. This time I haven't set foot inside the store and will hold off until the weekend now.Cornucopia said:My local Lidl was giving away excess bakery stock today (presumably over-ordered for the Feb bakery promotion).

It gets me when bread for example says best before. Lets say yesterday with ..best before 27 Feb, surely that means up to 26 Feb ie day before, so on 27th its past its best and should be reduced in price or am I being thick?2
