This happens with both the Belvoir and Lidl ginger cordials. I just shake the bottle each morning before making a hot ginger drink

The blobby matrix seemed to have a life of its own so I wasn't going to risk it!!

Aldi's Ballycastle - equivalent of a 12% w/v own-brand Baileys - doesn't appear to have any visible BBE? Although I can see a batch number on the label.

Anyone heading for Aldi just before closing time hoping for a bargain on fresh food may be out of luck if my local shop is anything to go by... at 0730 staff were already putting 30-50% reduced labels on anything with a use by date before 27/12 to clear stock...no 8p sprouts left either😢.

Interestingly enough, my local Aldi is doing Christmas Eve TGTG boxes - so waste is anticipated.

  • I nipped into Lidl earlier for some milk - there were reductions on the Christmas goodies of 10-20%, so no great shakes there! My favourite Favourina hazelnut balls were full price.

There were no Christmas cheeses to be had, just the usual selection so I assume the seasonal truckles went on Christmas Eve?

I picked up a TGTG box at 5pm last night and had a quick look round the store. Christmas goodies were reduced - eg standard 6 packs of mince pies for 49p, 200g bags of lebkuchen for 49p, stollen bites for 99p, whole stollen (750g) for £1.19. Panettone were £3.99, so reduced by a couple of quid but not much. Plenty of all of the above left.

I bought a couple of 400g iced bars of Christmas cake for 59p (only 2 left on the shelf).

I was a bit disappointed at the TGTG bag as I had been hoping for a cheese bonanza, and instead ended up with a load of pointed cabbage.

Sorry the cabbage was a disappointment Rosa_Damascena.  I like a nice pointed cabbage and one would be lovely for the bed to steam a pheasant on.  Wonder if they would do for cabbage rolls?  Normally a round cabbage is needed but it should work ok.  Otherwise just shred and steam and top with some butter????

re cabbage rolls - in case you haven't made them before.  I normally go for the meaty ones as I'm a carnivore but these might suit you better.  Vegetarian Cabbage Rolls Recipe: How to Make It
