Re glass shower door cleaning - I used to use spray but others often forgot. Much better I find, cheaper and cleaner for the environment is a simple squeegee, bought mine from Dunelm for 80p.
Not much good in hard water areas though...

Hi, I usually stock up on 250gr cocoa at Aldi, but am wondering how the Lidl cocoa 250gr compares in price/quality?  Anybody purchase these?

    Thanks.

It's one of those ingredients that sits in the cupboard and takes years to use up. I daresay Aldi and Lidl source from the same supplier.

So do I, and the glass isn't clean or clear after just using a squeegee as the salts in the water leave a chalky residue when dry.

I can thoroughly recommend a water softener to get rid of all hard water problems at a stroke. When you think of the damage done to immersion heaters and other plumbing generally by hard water - not to mention the inconvenience of limescale - I'm amazed they're not more popular.

Recently spotted the wine prices in Aldi, and some deals are very good. Just picked up a (hopefully drinkable) Chilean Merlot (2023) for £3.99. For those with more refined tastes, they have a 2015 Bordeaux (Chateau Pomone) for £9.99, reduced from £19.99. I might get a couple, as I love a decent Bordeaux.

Also: the "saver" pork belly slices are decent. A little on the fatty side, though for pork belly, that's no bad thing.

Chilean wine is usually pretty decent.  Much better IMHO then anything that you'll get from California or Australia/NZ.  Might not be up to the best of the French but on par with eastern European of a higher cost.

I'd be rushing out to get either of your finds if I still drank reds.  But will go and have a look just in case they have any whites - again Chilean or Argentina whites are good.  Or if you're really lucky Aldi will have some Canadians in - the Niagara area has some of the best German style whites including best in the world icewines.

p.s. for those of you who don't know or drink red wines but feel you have to buy some for Christmas or whenever... here's my trick.  Decide your maximum price be it £5 or £25.  Then look at the alcohol content.  A decent red wine in general will have a higher alcohol content as it will taste more robust.  This is more obvious in the cheaper ones.  But if you see a red that is 11% I'd say avoid at all costs.  If it's 13%+ it's worth a try as it's bound to be  a good meaty flavour.  Just be sure that you're not actually buying a sweet red which is more likely to be much higher maybe 17%.
