Tesco call that a price match. I’d call it misleading consumers, given the noticeably inferior quality. Many, if not most, of their so-called price matches show the same reduction in quality.
It's the same even when Tesco is over double the price.

A new Lidl opened near us and 3 months later I still find the lay out strange.  When you enter you are confronted by the end of the veg display which is at an odd angle to the rest of the display units.  It's as if they are trying to force you to go down the first aisle even if you want fruit which you know is in the second aisle.
There is a massive variation in the feel of the stores locally (we have 2 in central Southend and a further 3 in the surrounds) although the store layouts follow a blueprint. The two oldest ones are tired and scruffy, although well-visited. The one I now detour to visit takes me to the edge of the coast, and is light, airy, clean and most importantly full of nice people and run by a good team.

Aldi is wising up to the claims of price-matching in its latest cheeky ad. Only one store genuinely does price match, they'll let us guess which one. My money is on Lidl!

New products sounds good :) I've not seen anything 'new' in either of my Aldis for a while. I mean things that are actually new, not the things with a label that says "I'm new".
Mmmm... Deluxe crackers (Sesame & Garlic).   I will post a review when I open them.

Aldi have recently started selling 6x400g tins of cat food for £2.99. The ingredients look similar to those that other stores are selling for £4.50 or more.
Not sure I'd want to use it for their main diet, although I'm sure it's got everything they'd need. Still, they seem to enjoy it as a 'mid-day snack' to supplement their dried food.

Thanks VoucherMan ... good for hedgehog food.
  • I made the stupid mistake of putting through a non household item (a torque wrench £10) and used my Lidl app, of course that week had the 10% off so I saved a £1.  Then £75 worth of groceries went through with no discount!

The annoying thing was the check out guy told me to scan my Lidl app.  If only I had put the torque wrench through with everything else or even after the groceries.  Not the first time I have done that.  Even if I asked for a refund I couldn't reuse the discount.

I bet other people have done that too.

Not sure if anyone else has this at their local Lidl.
Thursday morning at 8am, Lidl now have extra large boxes of fresh fruit & veg for £1.50 at the checkout / on the packing bench, and also have nice quantities of reduced meat in the fridges.
Saving a fortune on my weekly shop! :D

Sad news for anyone using Aldi Click and Collect. The last day is this Sunday. Unsurprising, given the drop in the numbers doing home deliveries, and the £5 charge, but a shame nonetheless. That’s my last Aldi shop for the foreseeable future.
  • I have been shopping at Lidl this month.

It is no coincidence that I am gaining a lot of weight!!
