Our new Aldi has just opened.   It's much larger than the old one in the area, and has the upright chiller units that I've seen elsewhere in newer stores.

The car park seems a little small, although I guess it may be less crowded when the novelty of the new store wears off.

I noticed several products that I've not seen in the old store, which will be interesting to try.

It's got "new" features from the outset including self-service tills, plastic recycling and electric vehicle charging.

New products sounds good :) I've not seen anything 'new' in either of my Aldis for a while. I mean things that are actually new, not the things with a label that says "I'm new".
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

New Aldis (or Lidls for that matter) are a delight to wander round. The downside of our "new" Aldi is that it is still located near the local refuse centre and the surroundings stink to high heaven on warm summer days.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Oh dear.   I can confirm ours is situated in a perfectly fragrant location.

It is a delight, though.  The outside is sleek and shiny, and the inside is well laid out and spacious.   The only thing really is that it's next door to an existing Morrisons, so I hope there's plenty of business for them both.

People queuing on the opening day...

Mmmm... Deluxe crackers (Sesame & Garlic).   I will post a review when I open them.

A new Lidl opened near us and 3 months later I still find the lay out strange.  When you enter you are confronted by the end of the veg display which is at an odd angle to the rest of the display units.  It's as if they are trying to force you to go down the first aisle even if you want fruit which you know is in the second aisle.

I suspect that a sign outside Morrisons saying "ALDI Price Match, this way >>>>" may be more than enough to divert people from Morrisons to ALDI. If they are that close, it's Morrisons that should be worried, not ALDI

I agree. What Aldi and Lidl have succeeded in doing is forcing the big supermarkets to price match on a range of goods. Of course, they hope that people will be lured by the price matched items and do their full shop there. I can't imagine any mse shopper doing that! 🤣

    Aldi 41p 410g

Haricot Beans (50%), Tomato (35%), Water, Sugar, Modified Maize Starch, Salt, Onion Powder, Ground Paprika, Flavourings, Paprika Extract.

    Tesco 42p 420g

INGREDIENTS: Haricot Beans (49%), Water, Tomato Purée (20%), Sugar, Modified Maize Starch, Salt, Onion Powder, Paprika, Maltodextrin, Colour (Paprika Extract), Paprika Extract, Clove Extract, Capsicum Extract, Flavouring.

Tesco call that a price match. I’d call it misleading consumers, given the noticeably inferior quality. Many, if not most, of their so-called price matches show the same reduction in quality.

You're right @Doc_N, it pays to watch what you buy even on the price match and items.

I shop in Sainsburys alongside Aldi and stick to mainly fresh vegetables in Sainsburys and bacon.
