Aldi: You’ll get £11.40 per hour, rising to £12.30 per hour. If you're in London, you'll get £12.85 rising to £13.15 per hour.
Lidl: Our hourly rates range from £12.85 to £13.15 inside the M25 and £11.40 to £12.30 outside the M25.
Whilst each company offers different additional benefits, Lidl gives their staff a staff discount of 10%, whereas Aldi offers none at all. To me that's quite a good perk I know I would use if I worked there. That said I understand Aldi gives paid breaks whereas Lidl doesn't, so it might all balance out.

And breaks.....I was in Lidl a few months back and the woman at the till looked particularly miserable. I asked if she was ok and she said she was tired and needed a break but her manager didn't think any were required in a 7 hour shift, even if one needed the loo. I suggested that she google a gov.uk site for employment when she got home so she would know what her rights were. Don't think I've seen her in there since so she's either quit or was dismissed for insisting the management play fair.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I find the opposite. Lidl does have fewer staff because they tend to be less busy (at least at the times I am in there) and I find their staff far more helpful than in my local Aldi where it's impossible to a)find anyone b) get much acknowledgement of my presence as a customer. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.4 -

My Lidl Plus app's "Secret Box" has revealed a coupon for buy one get one free on Terry's Chocolate Oranges and bars. Valid for two days.
Thought I'd post as I wasn't sure if everyone gets the same coupons.2 -
