Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

MrsStepford said:Lidl website has details of the sale starting 28/12 as well as food and drink offers. St Emilion under £16, 800g pork belly joint for 4.99, 1 litre beetroot juice 2.49, rump steak with dripping butter, yet more Crivit thermal clothes..
Premier Cru? Grand Cru?
Tesco do a St Emilion for £10 normal price.
Yesterday Aldi had large boneless pork leg joints for £2.95 per kg.
I bought 2, both just over 3 kg. One straight into the freezer, will make lots of cheap good dinners.
The other has been cut up into cubes and frozen. They will be used for things like goulash and stroganoff.
I will cook the crackling from the 2nd joint later.
I don't have a Lidl near me.3 -
Bought ham trimmings in Aldi yesterday, it looked so nice I bought 2 packs but it was so tough, had a job trying to chew it. Never had any ham tough like that. Phoned Customer Services this morning, she asked for the number next to the item on the receipt which I gave her. She said she couldn't locate that number and asked for it again, so I gave it again, she still couldn't locate it (if she was even trying). She told me to return it to the store. I said I didn't know when I could get back to the store, she said it doesn't have to be today. I said it won't be anyway as it's in the next town and someone takes me, so I don't get there very often. She said I can return it to any Aldi store which didn't make much sense as any other Aldi store would be even further away. Then she said, throw away the contents and return the packaging with receipt.
I've had reason to phone Aldi before and I've found them very helpful but not on this occasion. Just depends who you get I suppose.1 -
No they are just sticking to the script , they have no flexability or concept of what a hassle it is go go back to a store quene up etc etcSuccess is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.Thats what I keep telling myself :-)1

But you can return the empty packaging in your own time.... could be February even. Usually they give you a reference number to quote (or they used to).
Maybe phone them again and quote the barcode number on the packet?
I have to say the last time I bought the ham trimmings- some months ago they were tough. haven't bought any since!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

off to Lidl shortly to see if they have the mushroom, truffle and prosciutto pizzas. we had the ones without prosciutto and they were very nice. Just added (as always) a light dusting of grated mozzarella.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. This morning's news indicate that both Aldi and Lidl went kerching to the tune of 12% over Christmas. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -
Lots of reduced Christmas food items at Lidl - some items down to 20p each (e.g. Marzipan bars, Mini Stollen pieces, Chocolate Money and Chocolate Lollies). Also some items at higher prices but 2-for-1 with Lidl App e.g. Deluxe Baklava. Items vary by store, depending on what is left.4

Food prices (and undoubtedly the cost of anything else shipped via the ME, and anything in competition with it) are set to rise due to the the pirates of the Red Sea.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
