That's just how it is displayed in 'my' store. pretty much a back wall of booze!!YoungBlueEyes said:Rob do you mean all the spirits or just a few?
My Aldis have a few christmas bottles on an end facing the tills, but that's so people maybe pick up a bottle while they're queueing (I think). The bulk of it is still at the back. I'll see when I go shopping later.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I think @robrymond may have circumvented the back far corner of the store. Its there lurking behind the freezers.Katiehound said:

So much to read, so little time.1 -
Yep back wall of booze is right ha haa! It is just the odd special promotion near the tills, I asked the fellah earlier.I was also in Lidl, and the nice sandwich meats are reduced -

Lidl might be making some changes to their chilled ranges - there were quite a few items marked like this with big reductions in my most local store today or with "orange" stickers for 30% off despite being well in date and not being overstocked (Vegan Burgers being one - normal one not those in for veganuary). Almost like they are trying to clear out some lines. Perhaps making way for new products or "new" recipes or packaging to justify a price rise.YoungBlueEyes said:Yep back wall of booze is right ha haa! There were also a lot of markings on the shelf end labels - essentially fractions written on a lot of the labels in the chilled section in a marker pen - some in red some in black but no sense to the numbers or colours I could see, eg 2/7 5/7 0/0 35/353 -
Those look like product run days or weeks, say week 2 of 7, 5 of 7 etc.njm123 said:

Yeah it's usually the back corner and still has labels up as such but has been filled with wine and all regular permanent range spirits moved to the front.Rosa_Damascena said:

Yes, just seen the spirits where fancy drinks used to be- just near the tills. Probably so that shoppers in a queue just 'pick up' a bottle ... or two!! whilst waiting.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Problem is the range seems smaller unless that was just perception. Maybe it is exactly the same.0

Product comparison: Tomato Soup-in-a-Cup.
Aldi's version is quite creamy, like it's trying to impersonate tinned Cream of Tomato. It doesn't do a bad job of that - made up with just the right amount of water.
Lidl's version is slightly thinner, slightly sweeter and has a herby flavour. It's not unpleasant, but for me the Aldi version is superior. Both soups suffer somewhat from a tendency to form lumps.
Nutritionally, Lidl's is sweeter than Aldi's - 9.9g of Sugars compared to 7.3g. (This is the difference between an orange traffic light and a green one).4 -
This is one reason why I gave up buying UK based cuppa soups. Always too sweet to me. Instead I buy them from the Polish grocery shops that have popped up over the years. The only difference (I believe) between the ones sold here and in Poland is that the ones here have an English language sticker put on the packet so you know what the ingredients are and how to make the stuff (not that many of us need to be told how). The other reason is that they are a fraction of the price. I don't know how they compare in price to Lidl's or Aldi's but my favourite one from the Polish grocery is a tub of borscht powder that makes (supposedly) 17 cups of soup for £1.79. Best value ever. There's lots of other lovely flavours sold in the conventional little single serve pack so more expensive (£1 for 3?), some include cheese, other croutons. I've yet to have one that wasn't really nice.Cornucopia said:Product comparison: Tomato Soup-in-a-Cup.
