Having read on here about the 50% off sale, I went in for a looksy and came out with arm loads
Thermals for me and himself, joggy bottoms and a fleecy jacket thing for himself (do for work), christmas decs and wrapping papper and lights, big scented candles, radiator keys, packets of drill bits, a digital radiator thermometer thing, some cookware, a couple of wheely plantpot mover things, a box of christmas crackers and I don't know what all else.
Thank you very much to whoever first mentioned it, it's cost me saved me a fortune
You don't need the app to process the discount though, you can just buy the stuff and the till does it automatically.
I wonder what they'll put in the space now, cos stock was shifting fast when I was out first thing yesterday....I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
I was in Lidl this morning just for normal shopping. It's quite a small Lidl compared to some, so didn't expect much half price stuff to be left but there was loads. Nothing I wanted though.
I asked about cherry liqueurs while I was there. The chap said they haven't come in yet but will probably be in at a later date. With two and half weeks till Christmas, I doubt it but I could be wrong.5 -
I wish there was a simple thread search
I had the misfortune to try the Aldi naan bread, yuck!

Behind door 7 of the virtual advent calendar offered 25% of panettone for the next few days, which I was tempted to use until I found these lurking at the back of my pantry:Am pretty sure these would have been purchased 1/2 price from Aldi in January 2021. Anyway, they are fossilised now - the only practical use I can think of them are as doorstops. If I am inclined to see the bright side, it's that I am spared 5,400 calories which is about a pound and a half of fat?No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Deep filled mince pies in Aldi reduced to 55 pence (1/2 price) - well in date (Jan 10th) ....over order?
Sun dried tomatoes in stock
No 'Ryvita' (own brand I mean)- have been oos for ages.
Found a jar of Brussels pate with cranberry. It seems to be the very popular flavour, or maybe there is only one in a mixed case?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Prompted by @Rosa_Damascena I had a look at the pannetones today as we've never had them.
Discovered there were mini ones that had been reduced to £1.25. And then discovered there were mini ones with chocolate chips. Nice!! So nabbed 2 (along with some bird feeders in the 50% middle aisle) and went to the till. It's a new shop so the staff are all brand new and there was only 1 person working and that was at the self service tills. (grrrrrr)
So zapped my items and the pannetones came up as £1.35. I asked the young woman working there to correct the price. She hmmd and hahhed and said she couldn't correct the price. She trotted off to check that I wasn't lying (about 10p?) and came back and said she couldn't find the right ticket and maybe these ones were actually £1.35 even though there was no ticket. I suggested she give me one for free instead which she declined.
So she called the manager (likely on her dinner break...) who after a few minutes came to the till. I explained that the pannetones should be £1.25 and that she went off to look for an item that cost that to push the amount through the till. She chose some nearby dog biscuits and put in the £1.25 quite pleased with herself. I then asked if my 25% off voucher would work. She looked distressed and reduced the price to 99p each. I pointed out that that was about 20% not 25% and I think her makeup started to melt. I said that if she calculated it the amount I should end up paying was about 93p each so she walked off to another till (1 of 2 staffed ones that had opened in the meantime) and did some jiggery pokery to redo my bill so I could pay the right amount. Fine.
And then I had to wait for the first young woman to finish dealing with all the other customers struggling with the self service tills so she could take the security tag off my grog.
On the plus side OH is very excited about the fact that I bought a pannetone as he's always wanted to try one. I haven't mentioned that I've put the second one in the Christmas cupboard with all the other treats for the holiday season.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. ^^^ there's always an awkward shopper: glad I wasn't behind you!
All I can say is when something goes wrong it goes spectacularly wrong. Just had to laugh that you were rightly) determined to get the correct price. Hurrah! Shoppers have rights.
Me? Not keen on pannetone at all. I understand it makes a great bread & butter pudding (don't like those either!!!)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Aldi's golden Christmas... https://groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-GB/christmas/golden-christmas
As for the Brussels pate... I love that stuff, I've gone through 2 jars in 10 days 😔.
I think it's the most popular, as there always appears to be the other 2 flavours left in the box.
If you're lucky enough to see a new box go out the spread seems equal across all 3 flavours.3 -
