    So if it is supposed to be random, but we get asked every week...

    Not sure what to make of that 😉

    Maybe we look dodgy. 🤣. I don't dress up to go shopping, so maybe they see a couple of scruffs and think....eh oop.

    How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

    Maybe just swop to Lidl where they don't entertain such nonsense :lol:

    Edit for spelling.

    Might not be such a new idea to check bags. Can't recall which country now, I think it was France, but some years back no supermarkets would allow you to take your own bags round the store. They had to be left behind near the entrance, inside, before going round with a basket. Trolleys were less common then!

    In Aldi, when you put your bags on the scales to start paying for shopping, an assistant has to come and verify before you can continue. That's an opportunity to check if they want to but they rarely do.

    In Sainsburys, if you use the Nectar gun things (Smart Shop) the nothing is checked unless you buy alcohol. Your shopping is packed as you go around the store.

    Businesses are treading a fine line between pushing customers towards DIY by cutting staff but having to find ways to deal with the consequences. I get really cross when I see posters telling me about penalties for getting on a train without a ticket. Years ago I could have bought one at the ticket office

    @Doc_N

    At Carre Four at Calais they always seal/staple any bags you bring in with you. Whether you would like them to or not. My French isn't good enough to have an argument was some some big burly Pierre.

    @Sea_Shell

    Maybe it's random but different branches have different "quotas" depending on their loss ratios. Or you look scruffy. And there's nothing the matter with you dressing up or down or however you like! You are your own special person!!! (wandering off to remind myself of the rest of "when I grow old I will wear purple….")

    Maybe understand that the written word is different to the spoken word.

    Especially with random strangers on t'interweb.

    Unless there's a smiley you have no idea if a comment is serious or intended as a joke.

    I must admit I've written a comment or three that was meant to be funny (or certainly not serious) without emoji, on this board and it was taken seriously, but I'm not going to complain actually it was quite interesting to follow a totally unexpected discussion 😊

    Just at the moment the bags of wonky carrots at Aldi are.... rubbish!
     yesterday took about 1/2 bag back that should have lasted until Monday: they were fermenting.  Bag replaced without a problem, BUT the first replacement bag (bb  next Monday) already had one rotten item!

    So bought a different bag yesterday and already one is slimy.
    Why do I buy them in a bag? 'Cos they are cheaper and for the dogs.
    Just diced the whole lot to freeze in portions: that way they will be fine but the instruction to keep them in the bag is really a load of...... rubbish!

    perhaps if they were unwashed they would last longer??
