I tried the cheapest lightly salted tortilla chips from Lidl, really horrible and didn't even finish them. Will try the standard pack next time. Tesco still do the nicest ones IMO, be interesting to see how Lidl compare.2

I don't enjoy these as a foodstuff. Has the price sky-rocketed in the same way that it has for crisps?KxMx said:I tried the cheapest lightly salted tortilla chips from Lidl, really horrible and didn't even finish them. I am not a fan and rarely buy them - but aware they are VAT free unlike crisps.

How bizarre. Prompted me to find this fascinating but not entirely logical page:GillyLucy said:Rosa_Damascena said:I don't enjoy these as a foodstuff. Has the price sky-rocketed in the same way that it has for crisps?

If only they were! I much prefer Aldi, even though Lidl is within walking distance.dealyboy said:

I don't do the full lot of cabbage, carrots and onions in one go, I make enough for about 4 or 5 days. I do all the carrots into batons and put the majority in the fridge in a bowl of water and change the water every other day as it saves me time later with the carrots.Rosa_Damascena said:
That's one whopper batch of coleslaw. I would imagine that would feed a family for a week!!wild666 said:
I make my own coleslaw 65p for the cabbage, 89p for the net of red onions, and 50p for 1Kg of carrots. I bought 35 200ml bottes of mayonnaise at 5p per bottle from a cheap food site.Brie said:Lidl coleslaw and potato salad are still the best of the bunch by far. Much preferable and cheaper than Waitrose. I love the M&S potato salad but it's half the size of the Lidl one and the OH prefers the Lidl one so that's an extra vote for it.
I would normally make my own mayonnaise but at 5p for 200ml the bottles were a bargain, cheaper than even homemade mayo.
I haven't seen any cabbage red or green in Lidl for about 6 weeks so get the cabbage from Morrisons.Someone please tell me what money is1 -
They were under 48p for 200g. Tesco standard are £1 and I think the Lidl equivalent are a smidge cheaper.Rosa_Damascena said:

I'm coming to that conclusion, too - although it may be that the local Aldi is just better than the local Lidl.Rosa_Damascena said:
In particular, our Aldi's new self-service tills involve being greeted by a member of staff, selecting your intended payment method and being shown to an available till. It's not hard to give good customer service, and yet so many retailers fail at it.3 -
Me too. I regard the two as more or less interchangeable on the food, but I’ve always found Aldi to be very much more customer focused.Cornucopia said:
