re wonky carrot bits....as long as you can tidy them up a bit they'll do very nicely mashed with either swede or potato. then you don't need to worry about them being too lumpy or weird looking.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Yes, thank you, some of them will indeed end up in a mashed potato offering. But the smaller bits that are too fiddly to peel will become dog treats. I am more annoyed because I thought I'd shopped through to Monday but now need to go out again to get carrots that will present as carrots on a dinner plate. To me a wonky carrot is a carrot that is slightly deformed, not a random collection of bits of carrot.Brie said:re wonky carrot bits....as long as you can tidy them up a bit they'll do very nicely mashed with either swede or potato. then you don't need to worry about them being too lumpy or weird looking.3 -
@mebu60
well the dogs will appreciate your generosity!!! Watching my brother's dog eat carrots or pears is quite disgusting! She tends to spit bits out all over the place so it can only safely be done outdoors.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Same here re wonky carrots. I don't mind carrots that are a mis-shape, but the bits just make me think they've been left in a pile too long and the only way to get them looking halfway presentable again is to snap off the soggy ends, cos it's always the thick ends in the bag.... Fine for mash but not if you want a carrot-looking carrot for the dinner.
Edit - my last but one dog loved apples (cored obviously). I couldn't tell you how he got so much mess across such a large area, but when you said to him "hoover up the bits" he'd get every last crumb lifted with the end of his tongue. God I loved that boy

Morrisons do wonky peas, still can't find out what is wonky about them, but at 55p for 900g, they'll do. The concept of wonky peas always makes me smile.

USA week starts today. Has anyone seen if there's any bags of cheese popcorn? The Lidl I was in earlier had almost nothing yankee in the fridge section, nothing in the freezer and little more than hotdogs on the shelves. Yankee week to me is plastic week. - the sight of it has me craving vegetables.Brie said:USA week starts today. Has anyone seen if there's any bags of cheese popcorn? So much to read, so little time.1 -
I'll have a look when I'm out later Brie.
I sometimes see 'x week' items before their time, itms. I saw corndogs in the freezer on Tuesday, and pancake something-or-other in the fridges."One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. They're probably very large? Peas are graded by size - the smallest being labelled petits pois and sold at a premium, most of the crop being standard garden peas, and the largest being graded out (sometimes sold to catering companies or, perhaps, badged as Wonky!)rhcp said:Morrisons do wonky peas, still can't find out what is wonky about them, but at 55p for 900g, they'll do. No cheese popcorn here @Brie, no USA popcorn at all in fact.Is it something you could have a go at making?"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy.
