That's a potential disaster @Brie. Hope you get sorted tomorrow. Personally I like the NZ so no point me sharing my supply from Sainsburys 25% off offer. 😉

I bought my red cabbage in Sainsburys as none last weekend in Aldi. Plenty yesterday though.

OH reported that there was no wine purchased today as Lidl only had "oh, you know, the white wine with the 2 names!"

    "Pinot Grigio?"

"NO!  The other one that you don't like!!"

    "New Zealand?"

    "NO!!! AH!  Sauvignon Blanc!!"

"But I like that as long as it's not from NZ, Aus or California!"

"Well in that case you'll have to go back tomorrow and see if they have any left."
    Grounds for divorce!

I'm enjoying an Argentinian white Malbec atm, delicious  :)

I'll add it to the list (the grounds for divorce as well as the wine....)

In Lidl at 08:00 and there was loads of reduced price meat, I got 5Kg of chicken breasts for £10, 2*400g of mince 90p each and 12 meatballs for 90p. I could have got more but my freezer was fairly full and I didn't even know if I would be able to fit in what I bought, thankfully it all fitted in, just.
As I left the fresh meat section there was two women arguing over how much the person that got the next lot was buying, she had 7Kg of chicken and 400g of mince, a member of staff stepped in and told them to button it.
If my freezer had plenty of space I would have bought more but didn't want to push it.
Someone please tell me what money is
  • I found this in Aldi, which appears to be a leftover SpecialBuy:

It's a Neal's Yard imitator and smells lovely, at £2.49 it is 1/5 of the price so whilst not a bargain a little luxury at a low cost.

I went to Aldi last week early in the morning.. There were portions of chicken and some other things with 30% off but they had that day's date on.
I usually go to Lidl as that is my local store. They have 30% off, a few days before the date.
So, is this normal for Aldi?

Yes, they are very stingy in that way, which is why i don't ever buy stickered items from them, especially as i already find some of the dates on their produce to be optimistic anyway.

It is worth looking at the Lidl reduced items as they don't only reduce things that are about to go out of date.

I notice this with Iceland too. Got some yellow sticker Mexicana cheese for £1 something and the date is mid-Feb

Got a pack of 6 pieces of salmon individually wrapped (about 120g each) YS so reduced from £10.99 to £7.60.  Had one piece fresh for my breakfast and the rest are in the freezer for future breakfasts or (less likely) dinners.

I checked my pack of Chilli Cheese from Aldi last night - expiry was 3rd Jan but it was vacuum sealed and tastes fine (good in fact). I remember feeling a little put out by paying 50p more for a v similar product in Tesco the day before, but that still has another 6 weeks on it.
