Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Many wax lyrical about the John Lewis ads. I find them soppy and irritating, at least Aldi's are humorous .YoungBlueEyes said:I thought they were the same (parent?) company too. I missed that they'd been sold and bought again.
Agree about the ads now. Lidl's used to be really good! Who remembers the "my husband drinks this tea, and my husband drinks this tea. Doesn't matter to me cos I only drink gin"
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -

I think they were Aldi adverts.
She was great.
I just found this one:
Aldi - I Like Waiters - YouTube
I like her style.
I don't like the JL ones or M&S or Morrisons with 'Farmer Christmas'.2 -
We’re all very different, fortunately. The ONLY Christmas ad I’ll ever bother to watch is the John Lewis for the sheer effort and attention to detail that’s gone into it. They’re rarely less than exceptional.Rosa_Damascena said:

Aldi etc - meh.0 -
I rather like the Tesco one- love it when they sing something about bedtimes... and the 'when is dustbin day?' and dance with their dustbins!! Luckily on catchup I haven't seen that many. have seen very little catchup anyway......
Hate Aldi's!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Yeah sorry no you're right @pollycat, they were aldi. Jeez they were good adverts, they'd put effort into doing something memorable and different.
So few/none of them seem to want to do that now, they all want to stick to the middle of the road and just produce bland meh nonsense. And they're the worse for it imo."One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world's wealth." - Ottmar Edenhofer, IPCC economist, interviewed at COP162 -
Remember the Gold Blend adverts?YoungBlueEyes said:Yeah sorry no you're right @pollycat, they were aldi. Jeez they were good adverts, they'd put effort into doing something memorable and different.

And OXO with Linda Bellingham?
And the VW advert with Paula Hamilton who throws away her pearls and fur coat but keeps the VW car keys?
They certainly don't make 'em like that anymore.
I like the Aldi adverts partly because I love Jim Broadbent's voice.

That Aldi one (from 2011, wow that long ago!) was brilliant as it was so unexpected.YoungBlueEyes said:Yeah sorry no you're right @pollycat, they were aldi. Jeez they were good adverts, they'd put effort into doing something memorable and different.

I quite like the John Lewis xmas adverts too, but like the alternative John Lewis charity one.

i haven't been able to get the light version of Aldi's Beautiful Buttery spread for the last 3 weeks up here in Co Durham, plenty of the full fat version still though. The move away from dates on fresh fruit n veg is also creeping up on us🙄.
On a positive note, the on stalk brussel sprouts are in our Aldi's now - does anyone expect there'll be the usual veg wars this year, or will that be quietly abandoned?1 -
that's been discussed on another thread. looks like Sainsburys 19 pence veg will be available from Dec 20th... maybe others will start a tad earlier?does anyone expect there'll be the usual veg wars this year, or will that be quietly abandoned?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
