£7-£8k for Aircon system

I had a couple of Daikin air to air heat pumps installed about 12 years ago in my detached bungalow. I got some commercial local company to install them and never applied for planning permission or ever had any complaints from the neighbours. They do cooling but I've never used them for that purpose as I live in a bungalow that rarely gets above 23C apart from a couple of days a year. They work great in the shoulder seasons but mine do tend to struggle when it gets really cold due to defrost cycles kicking in. You'd probably need some back up heat source for the depths of winter unless you let them run all day then they are fine. I have a multifuel stove in the living room which I only light when it gets below freezing at night and then mostly on at weekends as I can't be bothered with the hassle.3

They also have a thread here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4715287/discussion-ashp-air-air-with-solar-pv
Company haven’t got back with any system details yet. Definitely need to know.
I think £7k is about right for a 6 way multi split Aircon system but way more than I’d like to spend.

With a large unit do not ignore the potential noise problem as mentioned earlier in the thread.

The changover between heating and cooling is accomplished by reversing the refrigerant flow within the outside unit and therby reversing the role of the evaporator and condensor within the internal and external units depending on whether the system is heating or cooling
have a shufti here to get an idea of how it does ithttps://youtu.be/QykwWs3L1W8

Hopefully no need for back up with an expensive install such as this. Just a case I guess of getting used to the way heat pumps work.
Also was wondering about the high positioning of the indoor units.
Considering that I’m after a heating system, it would make sense for the units to be at floor level like radiators or storage heaters.
Looks like these type are available.

@danrv, An A2W ASHP plus radiators for your house is likely to cost around £15k. But RHI might get you back most of the increrase (or more) over your £8k A2A system and give you cheaper HW, as well as being 'proper' central heating. You do have to find the money up front though and make sure your insulation is up to scratch.

The great thing about air-to-air is that it heats the air to the temperature you want. With air-to-water you have to make the water hotter than you want the air to be so it's less efficient. But I agree with @shinytop that the RHI that you get with air-to-water will level-up the economics.Reed1

The adjacent property is around 17 metres way. The other side is attached.
