well ideally, I’d want to get something which is wireless. Something that I don’t need to plug into an Ethernet cable and have it plugged in all the time. Can anyone reccomend a good/cheap one? Whether that be a WiFi extender or WiFi booster
(ideally one that comes with no/little packet loss)

Use powerline adapters if you dont want to run a cable.Or what is it that you’re talking about?? Plugging something in upstairs and then run a cable from that to the TV?- if so, what is this
thanks0 -

(The WiFi in the living room is directly below the TV upstairs in the bedroom. Approx 10-15 metres away)

"Yes I presume that would be the case."
i would not presume i would test as it could be something else eg a faulty tv

Arsenal2019 said:Hello,I have just bought a smart TV and have put it upstairs.
my WiFi router is downstairs and when I watch my smart tv’s apps such as iPlayer, Netflix, itv player and so on, it works perfect.
However, the TV upstairs struggles badly with internet connection. It connects fine, but keeps lagging and buffering when watching apps on my smart TV.
Does anyone know why this may be?
js there anything on the market which I could buy to rectify this?
Its strange as my Xbox is upstairs (underneath the tv)& it’s connection is absolutely fine, as are the mobile phones /laptops. It is just the upstairs TV which struggles for good signal
Any help would be appreciated
thanks
Do you have 2 TV one downstairs one upstairs?
(what models?)
is the one downstairs near the router and dopes it have ethernet?
Are both TV currently on wifi?
is the one upstairs always bad or only when there is other stuff happening like streaming the downstairs TV.
how easy to take the upstairs one off the wall and take it downstairs for testing?
if the upstairs has a problem only when the downstairs is streaming connect the downstairs by cable and see if that fixes it.0 -

or ones with a passthrough socket:

Those two are fairly cheap 600 Mbps models but you can spend more for faster adapters if you require.0 -

if the upstairs has a problem only when the downstairs is streaming connect the downstairs by cable and see if that fixes it.One is downstairs, approx 5 metre from the WiFi router and I the other is in my bedroom which for some reason struggles with good WiFi signal. Which I strange because all other devices such as mobiles and laptops works fine upstairs. The upstairs TV even has bad WiFi strength when all other devices are disconnected from the WiFi.
im not sure how easy it was to take on/off the wall, but I guess I’ll have no other option but to test it that way.0 -

And this tv in question is a hisene 4K 43’’ (2 month old)
A few months later gave the TV to my son and swapped for a Samsung in exactly the same location and that connects perfectly to wifi so I do suspect the TV itself just isn't great with wifi.1 -
