Today was fairly positive
We had a meeting this morning, and it has been confirmed that my current role is safe until 29/02 but that after that the role will not exist.
I have spoken to the senior manager in the other department, and he has told me that whilst they have the same problem as elsewhere in that the cannot currently recruit any more permanent staff, they can take on "long term temps". Nothing has been guaranteed, nor formally offered, however it seems likely that I will be offered such a position.
Worst case scenario is that I will be out of work on 29/02, so I've started the ball rolling with regards to other options. I've sent a couple of applications today for office jobs, and I've also made enquiries about a couple of "different" career moves.
Things will hopefully become much more clear cut over the next week or so...0 -
Well done marc you sound really positive xxx
One thing is office job can be quite easy to come by nowadays x:DOn a mission0 -
No chance of a move across departments unfortunately
Anyway, I've bombarded prospective employers with my CV today, so I'm looking forward to some interviews over the next couple of weeks. There are a couple of positions which I am particularly interested in, so everything crossed for them - especially as one is substantially more money than I earn right now, and the preliminary chat I had with their HR department suggested that I would be in with a chance.
I've also got my induction to AQA on Monday, so at least I'll have a bit of money coming in if I end up out of work before anything else comes along.0 -
Very best of luck with the applications!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, I've been rather busy getting things sorted.
I've just received a cheque for £56.04 which was my winnings from one of the Bingo sites. Got a couple more free sites to try tonight...
Looking forward to my AQA induction tomorrow, as it will mean I can start earning some money. I've been considering doing AQA full time for a while, but the question levels seem too low at the moment to earn a decent living. I've applied for loads of jobs though, doing all sorts, so hopefully something will come good.
Have to say, this bottle of red is going down very nicely indeed0 -
I've just been looking for an old link which I posted on another forum a couple of years ago, when I came across this.
"We're taxed on what we earn, we're taxed on what we spend, we're taxed on what we save, we're taxed on what we invest, we're taxed when we die. And, to make matters worse, we're taxed on the tax that we pay!"
Which was a direct quotation from a Halifax taxation analyst, in a BBC webcast.
At the time, I have to say it really made me smile thinking how true it was. Now, it makes me furious with how true it is!!0 -
Sounds as if you are steaming ahead!:j...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Another twist in the tale!
I'm off work today and tomorrow, as I had holidays booked in advance of this current redundancy situation. I recieved a call about lunchtime from one of my colleagues who wanted to fill me in on the mornings developments.
Apparently, one of the managers has been 'sacked' this morning (well, asked not to contine working for the company after an unsatisfactory probation period), and a number of staff have walked out in sympathy with her (although why I have no idea, as she can be a total b*tch!). The company's stance is that one they have left, they have given up their job.
As a result of this, there may well still be a job for me with the companyI will find out more on Wednesday, as I have a meeting with one of the senior managers at 9am.
On the AQA front, I have had my induction and am now beavering away at my 30 questions. I've just done 4 in the past few minutes, and so far all of them have been from the hard queue - I can see I'm going to have to stop looking at the hard list or my rate will stay at 100% hard!!!0 -
Hiya marc. the job situation sounds interesting. Hope it works out to your advantage. XNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Things are looking up...and up...and up...
Irrespective of the situation with my current employers, I may have a job with one of their competitors! The job is a supervisory role, and therefore the pay is substantially better than I am used to. I've been exchanging emails with their HR manager, until a few minutes ago - so I reckon she's keen on getting me for the jobAnyway, she's going to give me a call in the morning to arrange an interview...
