All in all, quite a productive day.
The rugby didn't quite go according to plan, but we still played very well against a strong opposition.
I also finally got my (large!!)backside to the gym! I went along this morning, to collect my membership card as I had joined online - and whilst I was there I enjoyed a good hours workout, followed by 20 minutes relaxing in the spa and sauna. It really made me feel better.
I've made myself a promise - to go to the gym at least 3 times each week. Ideally I'm going to try and make it 3 mornings before work, as it will help to get me in the mood for work and would also fit into my schedule best in this time which would normally be spent in bed!0 -
Shame about the rugby, but nice to see a match being played!
I just had a curry with a friend, yum
Well done on being motivated to go to the gym, I've bought some exercise DVDs but haven't actually got around to doing them .... yet!

Good luck with your early starts
At present, I'm only rolling out of bed in time to dress and leave for work - I haven't even eaten breakfast for weeks, because I just don't get up in time
Hopefully being up and active an hour or so earlier than normal will mena that I'm more awake when I get into work.
Good luck with the excercise DVDs.0 -
Keep up the good work love, you've really turned things around, well done!On a mission0

Today has been a bit of a nightmare!
We had a big company meeting earlier, where it was announced that we have lost our second largest contract and that as such one of our divisions (warranty repairs for a major PC manufacturer) will be closing at the end of February. Guess what...I work for this division!
The announcement was right at the end of the day, so I've not had chance to talk the situation over properly with my supervisor yet - however it is quite likely that I will be out of a job.
My supervisor has passed my CV over to another department for me, in the hope that I will be offered a job there, however there are no guarantee's.
I'm going to try and speak to the section leader tomorrow about my chances of getting the other job - he's a decent guy and will be straight with me. If the chances aren't great then I'm going to have to start looking for something else...and fast!
My minds in a bit of a spin at the moment. I only hope that tomorrow holds good news for me, however I still feel soo bad for my colleagues as at least onther 2 of our team will shortly be out of work and as they are not qualified for the other role, there are no openings within the company for them0 -
pants! after it was all going so well.....
fingers crossed for your current job and the potential new one. would you be entitled to redundancy pay at all? x0 -
Oh no - I'm sorry to hear that. I normally read your diary and you had been doing so well with money saving.
Fingers crossed you will be offered another job within the company or will get to keep your old job!0 -
Oh marc how awful for you - when everything has been going so well too. However if the worst happens I feel sure that, with your qualifications and aptitude, you will easily get another job.. Thinking of you. XNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Thanks, all of you.
Unfortunately I am employed as a long term temp, and therefore will not receive any redundancy money should the worst happen. The real kick in the teeth is that I was due to be signing a permanent contract within the next month or so.
I'm going to get a straight answer one way or the other tomorrow, as if I need to find another job I will need time to search and apply...There are a couple of possible career changes which appeal to me, so I would need to look into them more closely.
Before I found this job, I was unemployed for the best part of 7 months, so I really hope that I don't have to go through that hell again.
ANyway, I'm not going to dwell on it until I have a fuller picture tomorrow. at the moment, so far as I am concerned I have a job with them until they tell me otherwise
One of my collegaues, who has become quite a close friend, has been off sick for the past week and is expectec back in either tomorrow or Friday. I haven't been able to get hold of her to fill her in on what has been going on, however I really do feel for her as it was only a fortnight ago that she turned down another job because she was happy here!0 -
Sorry to hear that - hope you manage to get transferred to another dept!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
