  • Things are coming together for the new apartment now :D

I've just been paid (well midnight, half an hour ago) and at that time I had £341.42 in my current account. I've transferred an additional £190 into my savings account (and also replaced £60 I borrowed from it yesterday, in case of emergency) bringing my current savings total to £526.59 :D:D:D:D

  • Just won another £52.60 playing Bingo. :D

I have to admit I was a bit naughty this time, as I did use my own money to play, however I am getting it back in CB anyway. I joined Astro Bingo via freefivers, as they pay £22 CB and Astro offer a 200% deposit bonus. I deposited £20, played that and my bonus through a couple of times and ultimately withdrew the £52.60. The cheque will hopefully be with me within a couple of weeks...
  • I finally got access to my credit files, via checkmyfile. I had been waiting for my 'code' which arrived in the post today...

They're a bit of a mess! However it would seem that most of it relates to the time that my ID was stolen by my father (he was applying for all sorts using my details, when I was only 16).

I'll post up the details of each report seperately. I'd appreciate your idea's on how best to have these incorrect entries removed, as whilst I have no desire for credit at the moment, it would be nice to have the option ;)

    Equifax

    Score - 368

    Not on electoral role

    No CCJ's

    23 searches (!)

    36 Audit Footprints

    6 enquiries
    ______________________________

6 accounts registered, 3 active, 1 late and 2 default

There are 4 addresses showing for me

I am on the electoral role at one of the addresses

    _____________________________

Of the searches, the following details seem relevant

14 are at my parents address

7 are at my previous address

2 are at my current address

    6 are for credit cards

    5 are for financial services

    5 are for finance houses

1 is for a building society

    1 is for a stockbroker

    5 are for communication suppliers

    __________________________________

    The following accounts are showing

Communications supplier, at my current address.Up to date with payments. (this is my BT telephone account)

Current account, at my previous address, defaulted, balance of £1,112. (Certainly not an account of mine!)

Current account, at an address unknown to me, defaulted feb 2005 (before I was even 18!) with a balance of £678. The DOB on this is also incorrect.

Current account, at my parents address, closed 09/06 (This was my old Abbey account)

Current account, at my previous address, showing up to date but with one late payment. (This is my current account I use, late payment relates to being OD in September - I agree, this is correct - although the address needs updating!)

Mail order agency, at my parents address. Showing inactive, but the DOB is incorrect. (I have never held a mail order credit account)

    _________________________________________________

A total of 14 CIFAS warnings, at parents and previous addresses (although not current address) and a selection of other details incorrect (different names, DOBs)

    That took longer than expected!!! Anyway, I've put a few notes in there, however the following are entries I was expecting;

BT account (yep, that one's there)
Barclays Current Account (yep, that one's there)
Old Abbey Account (yep, there and closed, as expected)
SKY TV (Not sure whether they report account conduct? But they said the would credit chack me)
2 Credit Card Applications, Both declined (Assume they are there somewhre amongst the other searches!)

I was also expecting this phantom CCJ to show up (the one with the incorrect address and DOB details).

All in all, is it any wonder my 2 genuine credit card applications were declined??

Now I need to sort this lot out. Perhaps worth contacting CIFAS? How about posting a notice of correction? (I know these don't do any favours when applying for credit, but may help for the time being).

    All idea's greatly appreciated...

    Thanks :)

Ps. None of these seem very recent, so I suspect that whatever has been going on may now have stopped...But left it's muddy footprints all over my credit file!

Hi marc my dh suggests that your first port of call should be to contact the credit reference agencies and ask for their advice. They probably have literature they can send out to you. Also my dh says that there are companies who specialise in sorting people's credit files out but they will charge for their services. Any bad information 'drops off' your credit file after 6 years. Dh says Notices of Correction placed on the incorrect info might help but not guaranteed to do so. He says might be a good idea NOT to apply for credit until this is sorted out -more searches will go against you. If you do need credit your own bank might be the best people to approach as they know you better than anyone and they can see your salary going in each month & how you conduct your account. HTH

Thank you, and thanks to your DH. :)

I'm going to get a letter off to each of the CRA's tomorrow - and see what they come up with.

I have no need for credit, the only reason I applied for the cards was the cashback ;)
  • My aunty has offered me the opportunity to go on a trip of a lifetime. Her son and his family live in Canada - right in the heart of the rockies, and she is going over to spend 2 weeks with them at the end of September.

She has asked me to go with her, and all I will have to pay for is my flights (and obviously a bit of spending money). The flights are just over £300 all in.

I've said that I'm going to think it over, but my mind is already made up. :D

Guess this means I'm going to have to put in a few more hours of AQA  :rotfl:

The only problem could be time off work, but if I smile nicely at my new manager I should be able to manage it...

...Oh b****r, and I'll need a passport too! (robbing sods, do you know how much a passport costs these days  )
  • Just wanted to say that I am still reading your diary and I am still enjoying it. Hope you get to go to Canada, it looks like such a lovely place to visit.
