It when grant schapps has said the list will be "reviewed"kuepper said:lisyloo said:It's every 3 weeks from 17/5.
Isn't that the date/s from when changes will come into effect? Presumably they will be announced prior to every change eg announcement last friday 7th to for changes to commence on 17th0 -
Thanks for clarifying. i simplistically took the government (DOT) saying you should not as law.silvercar said:
After 17 May, the current law becomes advice only. So, in the same way government advice is not to smoke, to exercise and eat healthily, it will also be that you should not travel to amber countries. It won’t be a law, so won’t be illegal.lisyloo said:
Almost certainlykuepper said:As govt advice is still not to travel for leisure purposes, if you go to an 'amber' country for a beach holiday does that mean your travel insurance is invalid?
how do you expect to get through check in for an illegal trip?
That might be because for me what the FCO say is gospel even though it's only "advice".
In practice for largely tourist destinations then no demand = no flights.
This is not true for places that have business and residential travel,0 -
VFR routes are expected to be quite busy, amber list or not.lisyloo said:

In general over the last 12 months:
Should not = Advice
Must not = Law💙💛 💔1 -

As Spain is on the amber list, would they need to self isolate when get home? They usually about halfway through the stay.
“Transit stops in amber or red list countries
When you arrive in England you need to follow the rules for the highest risk country or territory that you have been in or passed through in the previous 10 days.”

That means that they are fine as they usually go to Spain when they still got 4-5 weeks left on the stay - then spending the rest of the time in Portugal.onashoestring said:briskbeats said:My father’s cousin, goes to Portugal for about 10 weeks a year. In this case, yes, however they will need to be aware of the 90 in 180 rule that applies to citizens of third countries, who are excluded from Freedom of Movement. I note that you say 'about 10 weeks a year', however just wanted to be completely clear on this matter.briskbeats said:

Very interesting, I just received an e-mail from On The Beach catchingly headed "we don't think you should book a holiday right now" and the content basically says, even with the Government announcement, it is all too risky and who wants the stress?0

Yes, it was in the news today that they are pulling their holidays from sale this year. Interesting approach, obviously decided to cut their losses...Grumpy_chap said:Very interesting, I just received an e-mail from On The Beach catchingly headed "we don't think you should book a holiday right now" and the content basically says, even with the Government announcement, it is all too risky and who wants the stress?0 -
Too much stress for the companies themselves perhaps. Might as well enjoy the benefits of the furlough scheme. The pandemic unfortunately isn't going away anytime soon.Grumpy_chap said:Very interesting, I just received an e-mail from On The Beach catchingly headed "we don't think you should book a holiday right now" and the content basically says, even with the Government announcement, it is all too risky and who wants the stress?0
