MSE News: 'Green list' of quarantine-free holiday destinations set to be revealed

Thanks for the replies, which are more optimistic and reassuring than I anticipated (accepting it's just opinions at this point as to what happens next ). I suppose then they need to hold on till June 7th for next update on travelling abroad. That would give them a month to change things if it was an issue. After June 7th (if I've got that date correct about next update) when would the one after that be about travelling to different countries, is that yet known?
And yes, may have to be bank of Mum and Dad that helps out if the tests needed are expensive.0 -
It's every 3 weeks from 17/5.

Thanks, then I suppose there's another chance on 28th June that they'd get positive news, though it might depend on what date anything is implemented from after each announcement. That one might be cutting it fine and the following on 19th July is too late.lisyloo said:It's every 3 weeks from 17/5.0 -
As govt advice is still not to travel for leisure purposes, if you go to an 'amber' country for a beach holiday does that mean your travel insurance is invalid?

My insurance works with FCO advice for leisure travel, which differs from the 'green list' and all of my posts on this thread are in reference to departures after May 17. I should have made this clear if it wasn't and apologise for that.kuepper said:As govt advice is still not to travel for leisure purposes, if you go to an 'amber' country for a beach holiday does that mean your travel insurance is invalid?
I don't believe that it's the legal responsibility of the handling agent to check, but the responsibility of the police. A private company cannot issue fines.lisyloo said:

how do you expect to get through check in for an illegal trip?
I have travelled twice this year, both times for work and both times my physical presence being necessary for legal reasons. Both times I've had a string of e-mails and other documents available for electronic access regarding what I'm doing and both times haven't been asked to present any documentation on either departure or arrival in relation to this, only in relation to testing and PLFs. Neither of these trips departed after March 8th though.💙💛 💔0 -
My father’s cousin, goes to Portugal for about 10 weeks a year. He and wife have a mini stay in Spain of 2-4 nights. Sometimes they drive or get a flight if it’s to Barcelona, Madrid. As Spain is on the amber list, would they need to self isolate when get home? They usually about halfway through the stay.0

Why not simply give it a miss for a year. Rather than put other people at risk?briskbeats said:My father’s cousin, goes to Portugal for about 10 weeks a year. It's not illegal to travel abroad for leisure from May 17 but there are self isolation /quarantine and covid testing obligations depending on where you golisyloo said:

After 17 May, the current law becomes advice only. So, in the same way government advice is not to smoke, to exercise and eat healthily, it will also be that you should not travel to amber countries. It won’t be a law, so won’t be illegal.lisyloo said:
