I have my electric on Tracker and gas is fixed and ends 2/01/26.

I missed the November V3 fix as it now available to me is V2 I think.

Would it be better for me to go to variable and then onto Tracker or just fix?

The wholesale gas prices are low but Octopus haven't offered another new tariff for a few weeks.

Thanks for any help and or advice.

Can I ask why you decided not to go on Tracker for gas?  I'ts been under 5p/kWh for 6 months.
    Thanks for the reply.

I took a fix last December and the rate was 5.74 and there was a lot changes to the Tracker prices at the time so I went for a fix

I haven't used a lot of gas since the Summer so never thought about changing.

Agreed; I've enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the low gas prices on Tracker.
@Boohoo if you're still undecided, don't forget you can join Gas Tracker now and take a fix later.
It some thing to consider that's for sure.

There still uncertainty about how the £150 budget reduction is going to work and would being on a tracker tariff cause issue?

I suppose we will have to wait and see.

Don't discount the idea of another fix, but not necessarily with Octopus, which I found to be uncompetitive when I fixed with Ecotricity a couple of months ago at 4.62p.

... noting that Doc_N's Ecotricity fix has a much higher standing charge (an extra 25p a day, if previous posts are accurate). You'd need to be using about 10000 kWh a year for that to work out cheaper than Octopus's current Nov 25 v2 fix, or more than 24000 kWh a year if Tracker remains at or below 5p.

Using around 34,000 kWh pa it’s a no brainer for me, but I entirely take your point. Every region is different, and every consumer different, so it’s always worth running your own figures through something like the MSE energy checker, and then double checking the result before you make any switch.
