Octopus Tracker

Of course its possible - there's a scalar and a fixed offset over W the wholeale cost in tge formulas to reflect external costs Octopus are liable to pay - even for those on tracker.Doc_N said:
Interesting question. Impossible to predict, but it’s difficult to see how it could be done - short of just trusting Octopus to play fair, and I certainly wouldn’t do that. Fixed tariffs could be dealt with as Martin Lewis suggests - a simple reduction to the gas and electricity tariffs, but with Tracker that’s obviously not possible.knight123 said:A bit belated, but do you think people on Tracker will will benefit from the supposed £150 reduction in energy bills? Am all electric, so a high energy user, which should put be above average in savings.
Which is why in part the tariff terms - the cost formulas - are regularly updated on I assume a regional basis as Ofgem varies the costs on a regional basis.
But its a bit rich for ML to demand short term contracts are broken to save consumers money - but complain about breaches of promise on FIT ver 20 to 25 years - and defend tge often excessive profits being made at bill payers costs thr govt is seekinb to reduce slightly.0 -
The costs being removed from the standard unit rates would also have been taken into account in tracker rates, so it is hard to understand why tracker-type rates (be they daily or more frequent, like Agile) should not be lower than they otherwise would have been.Doc_N said:

I agree entirely. But I simply don’t trust Octopus to make the appropriate reductions, and the transparency simply isn’t there to check for the vast majority of consumers who look at one thing only - the daily prices.KevinG said:

I didn’t say it isn’t possible. It’s perfectly possible. See previous post.Scot_39 said:

One would hope that as a large number of customers have supported Octopus with their introduction of 'smart' tariffs then, equally, Octopus would support those customers by treating them the same as all other customers and, presumably, Ofgen might have something to say if they did not.Doc_N said:

The one major problem would be how you can tell?
As with anything you 'buy' it is relatively easy to determine the price of the 'raw' product(s) used to produce whatever you are buying. However, you will never know the 'hidden' costs (wages etc) that the company has to cover and how they reflect that in the price that the customer pays.It is said that there is a limit to everything. This cannot be true as everything has no limit!0 -

I have my electric on Tracker and gas is fixed and ends 2/01/26.
I missed the November V3 fix as it now available to me is V2 I think.
Would it be better for me to go to variable and then onto Tracker or just fix?
The wholesale gas prices are low but Octopus haven't offered another new tariff for a few weeks.
Thanks for any help and or advice.0 -
There are certainly plenty of energy suppliers I would trust LESS to pass on changes! As the proposed reductions effectively amount to a change in taxation though, I wonder whether there will be a decree from "on high" to ALL supplies to ensure that the savings are passed on.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Can I ask why you decided not to go on Tracker for gas? I'ts been under 5p/kWh for 6 months.

Agreed; I've enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the low gas prices on Tracker.Somebody said:Boohoo said:Would it be better for me to go to variable and then onto Tracker or just fix?

@Boohoo if you're still undecided, don't forget you can join Gas Tracker now and take a fix later.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile.
