Same version, but we get ripped off for both Elec and Gas in Merseyside.0 -
I got my "your fixed tariff is ending" email today as it ends 2/01/2026.
New offerings.
32.71 sc and 5.74 p cost fixed.
32.71 SC and 6.22 p cost Flexible.
Eastern Region gas.
Wonder what new price cap will be for 1/1/2026.0 -
I wonder if they(🐙) will bring a better gas tracker soon given that gas rates are going down in January?
I guess the leccy one will be less competetive though
EDIT
I doubt it will be any better than Dec24 though, I have till March before mine ends.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -
A "better tracker"? It's a tracker. The rates have been well below the current price cap for a long time. Gas prices are not increasing so hopefully that will continue.debitcardmayhem said:I wonder if they(🐙) will bring a better gas tracker soon given that gas rates are going down in January?

Tracker may have been below the price cap, but it’s certainly not been competitive with some of the better fixes around. Ever since Octopus started tinkering with the conversion formulae it’s become less and less attractive, and it’s now offering pretty poor value.KevinG said:

Instinct tells me that it's more prudent to stick with a fix, if the opportunity is there, till towards the end of winter, rather than taking risks now.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
i have been with Octopus since April 23 and on Tracker (gas and electric) since July 23. I also have true data and data based comparisons (accounting for flex tariff and tracker formula changes) and, whilst there have been a few hiccups, have. in total over that period, saved considerably against any variable and fixed tariff available on the market.
I do, however, have some observations.
Whilst I have to accept that the Tracker tariff basis is subject to variation and fixed for a 12 month period, i fail to see why the standing charge is also fixed, at the flex tariff rate, for the 12 month period. Standing charge is, as I understand it, meant to cover provision, maintenance etc. of the 'network' and this cost is, presumably, the same no matter which tariff you are on. I can understand that there is a cost in providing and maintaining the Tracker tariff, but I would assume that this is reflected in the formula to determine the daily tariff and, if not, maybe it should be rather than fixing the standing charge. The sceptic in me might suggest that this might be a way of raising profit margins!
Secondly, all customer available data for gas is in kWh. I have asked for the data in cubic metres but have been told that it is not available. I did point out that customer available half hourly data is available in kWh and this can only be based on the half hourly cubic metre reading so the data must be somewhere in the system but was told, and I quote:
"Our system automatically converts the cubic metres into kWh, so we do not have the daily cubic metre data available separately. However, you can use an online calculator to convert your gas data from cubic metres to kWh yourself. There are lots of these available."
I do keep manual meter readings so I do know that the monthly billed cubic metre value does, give or take, agree with the my meter reading but, in my time on Tracker, there have not been any major fluctuations in the daily tariff over the monthly cycle. If there were then I might be concerned over the non availability of the daily cubic metre data to enable me to check my bill. There have been reports of kWh billed for days when no gas was used and, whilst over the month, the data might even out, equally, it may not, particularly if there are major fluctuations day to day!It is said that there is a limit to everything. This cannot be true as everything has no limit!0 -
Really? The fixes I see are well above the 4.75p I'm paying today.Doc_N said:
