In my experience the people that understand how tracker works are the twitter guys. Last time I had the smoothing over the month thing I asked them by direct message on twitter if they could check. They pulled the missing data, ran it through properly and told me that it worked out a few pence more than the way I was billed, so we agreed to leave it alone.

You would think the smart meter data should be the master record as you would like to think that the software should be able to tell the difference between no data received and 0 usage for the time period.

It does. I don't believe the theory you offer. It's just not true.

Another reply from my CS person.
Much of it (like much of previous replies, on reflection) reads like it was written by AI, and they make the suggestion we've heard before the gas use when the isolation valve is closed might just be "gas trapped in the pipes".
Reader, it's not "gas trapped on the pipes" unless your pipe is the size of the Channel Tunnel.
They have said they'll look into it further and get back to me. Will let you know what comes next.

If it is able to tell the difference the why does the Octopus system not report the true data? It works fine for electricity on tracker.

Gas meters always tend to be a bit flaky in the sending reads department. Electricity meters far less so.

Apparently they've consulted a meeting specialist and they have now assured me that I am definitely being billed on my actual daily readings.
The fact my actual daily readings are up and down like a Plymouth girl's knickers when the fleet's in, but my billed readings aren't, is apparently nothing to be concerned by.
Wondering whether it's worth a complaint, or just to put up with it.

Flexible is the SVR capped tariff, so definitely not the same as Tracker.
