It could well be that by a process of elimination the choice ends up with the 16 month fixed deal, at least for the short to med termTelegraph Sam

I'm also on those tariffs and initially I opted to roll onto the same but I emailed Octopus yesterday to ask them to put me on the Fixed rate. They replied within 10 mins!Archerychick said:My tracker tariff for gas ends in 6 days or so, considering what to do really. My electricity is on Agile (and this will probably be moved to Cosy). With only another month ish of using heating in earnest, I’m wondering whether I just pick whatever gives me the lowest standing charge. Would prefer to stay with Octopus 🐙 as I’m not interested in moving the electric
Both Agile and Tracker are high atm and I don't see them coming down in the short term (next couple of months). With the option open to switch back to either tariffs any time you want, I thought it was the sensible option, especially with Agile prices as they are currently.0 -
The way I look at it is that the fixed rate gives you a maximum price guarantee through to next spring, it has no fees so you can jump to something else if a better tariff comes along. If you delay in choosing you risk the fixed tariff becoming more expensive. You can opt to change tariff now or at the end of your tracker term (if you go now they may make you wait 9 months to rejoin tracker, there seems to be an inconsistent response to that question).Of course it is a bit of a gamble as locking in a lower rate now to take into next winter could end up paying dividends if the upward price trend continues through this year.0 -

They won't put you on Intelligent Go (IOG) without linking either a smart EV charger, or a compatible EV, to your account and carrying out a test charge. And you then need to make at least one smart charge a month, IIRC. So IOG isn't really an option unless you've got a neighbour with a compatible car who will let you charge their EV for them?Krakkkers said:Tracker is getting a little expensive for me, can i switch to intelligent go with out an electric car as i am a night owl with solar panels so the bulk of my usage is after 11:30 at night?N. Yes, until the next one replaces it. For some the 16 month one is cheaper than the previous 14 month one so it’s worth watching for changes. Once it is replaced you have lost the opportunity.Telegraph_Sam said:There is only the one [Octopus] 16 month fixed tariff to choose from?0 -

go on regular 🐙 Go for the 9.5p low cost TOU rate. But looks like they changed it & you have to have a EV + dedicated EV charger now. And the rate is now 8.5p per kWh for charging between 00:30-05:30.
