I'm planning to stay on Tracker for gas unless the Jan 25 tariff is outrageously poor.

I'm looking for inspiration and answers as to what the Dec 23 brigade are thinking of doing for gas? Hardly a mention in this thread (I'll ask for my money back  :))
I’ve already arranged for it to switch to the fixed tariff on Feb 15th which is when my Dec 23 tracker ends.  My understanding is that because the tracker comes to its natural end, I’m not locked out from another tracker for the 9 months.  And there no are no exit fees on the fixed so if a new tracker is decent I can switch to that.

Im on IOG for electric so no change there for now.
  • The following msg was posted by me, in the middle of a topic on gas, by mistake in the Agile thread. It is therefore being repatriated to where it belongs (here)

"I'm on Tracker gas but have never got around to working out the underlying mechanics. Obviously there is no half hourly pricing. Agile doesn't come into it. I guess that it is daily pricing like electric."

Despite being on Tracker gas for months now I have to admit that I don't understand how it ticks given the differences in the supply side economics. It looks like the Dec 23 version is on the same timescale as electric. Smart and dumb meters come into it as well I believe.

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • See here sam https://octopus.energy/tracker-faqs/#formula , you will notice that gas dec23 is much cheaper than oct, but oc24 was slightly cheaper than jul24, at least in my region.
4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy
  • So is it identical in the way it works for both fuels??  Where do you get price notifications from - future and past -without having to "process" the equivalent of Nordpool data every time?

You will agree that 90% of the correspondence has been about electricity.

For tracker prices you can use the Octopus app  which will update in the afternoon for the following day. I use an app called. OctoTracker because I prefer it -

You can get past rates from a variety of sites. This one is an option https://www.octopriceuk.app/tracker and I’m sure others will be along to provide other places

Octotracker looks like it's worth following up tks. Is the daily pricing for both fuels the same?

    Is Octotracker for mobiles only?

  • Gastracker.uk has gas and electricity
  • Predictions (24 - 48 hours ahead) as well as history??

  • Sorry I didn't realise you were after predictions.  It does day-ahead when the price is released for the following day, and history.
