Yes, they'll tell us about the new tariff on the day they pull the previous one for new sign-ups. The standing charge can now be assumed to track that of the price cap, so no appreciable change expected, and the formula changes were based on them passing through additional costs that they had been absorbing through to the end of last year. There should be nothing big left to come through now.
To me, anything after Dec 23 is a dead duck and there is zero chance of Jan 25 being as cheap as Dec 23. Many others considered even Dec 23 too pricey to continue.
I agree. For me, December 23 is as far as I'll allow Octopus to go with the Tracker formula, so it's highly unlikely I'll be renewing at the end of March because Octopus is extraordinarily unlikely to change the formula back to that level.

They have no need of tracker now - it was only ever a marketing exercise aimed at bringing in new customers fitting a certain profile - because they already have the largest number of domestic electricity customers and are second only to British Gas with gas customers. Rather than be accused of pulling it, why not just do what they are doing and let it wither on the vine as it becomes less and less attractive?

It's been a fairly busy day for me, for sure. Various bits of cooking done, a gammon just about ready. I managed to get a load of laundry almost dried outside yesterday, which is a rarity at this time of year, so that saved me using as much as I might have.

I think if I'd have put my washing out yesterday it might now be in the North Pole by now!

  • You mean Nordpool.

  • I'm looking for inspiration and answers as to what the Dec 23 brigade are thinking of doing for gas? Hardly a mention in this thread (I'll ask for my money back  :))

I am waiting until Jan comes out, so I can check the multipliers vs SVT and Fixed, my dec23 ends 8/1.
Edit oh Oct 24 is about 7.5% higher than dec23, Jan probably not too much more.

Possibly take out a new tracker for gas, or maybe switch to SVR. Will need to see what the formula is like and compare it to fixed & SVR.
Electric, I may well take a punt on Agile.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • Electric. That is the way I'm thinking.
Gas: I have never gone into this in detail and would like to know what those more expert than me are thinking, now and in the month(s) to come! Please.
