I've said it before, but Octopus could have handled this whole thing a lot better by just changing the formula / SC for all versions and adding an end date for those who did not already have one.
  • I had an end date on my November tariff and my bills said “price guaranteed until 15 June 2024”. I think I was justified in stamping my feet to have that date and tariff reinstated. No other fixed tariff would be cancelled midway through the term.

if those on the original V1 and V2 are still on the original terms they are very lucky, maybe Octopus will realise eventually and swap them over.

Well that is a massive blunder on their part, as the price you paid changed pretty much every day.

Probably this is because Octopus has a lot of empowerement of their customer service teams which lead to mistakes being made or inconsistencies.  I just checked my bills and they all either say "none" or some date that was the day after that billing date.  There was a moment after I changed to tracker when it said that my price was fixed until November 2024 on the screen, but they must have fixed that before the next billing.

@BellaBlondykeTheThird: A few pages ago (3?) there was a post from you saying - if I understood correctly - that it was possible to enjoy Agile to the ultimate WITHOUT (my caps) having to avoid the 4 - 7 pm timeslot. This floored me because I was under the impression that the whole principle of Agile was to penalize those who consumed at peak times in return for rewarding those who switch their consumption to the early morning off peak. If this was not the case it would then hugely "upgrade" Agile in comparison to Tracker. I've a feeling that I have misunderstood something along the line ..

I take it that Greg and Octopus Pete are regular readers of this blog

According to the Octopus Watch app, Agile would have been cheaper for me over the last month than the new tracker prices, even though I haven't been doing any load shifting at all (except I guess I don't charge the car between 4pm and 7pm out of courtesy to the general load nationally, but I wouldn't do that anyway even if I was on SVT).
  • @Pat38493: It would be very interesting if you could continue to monitor if this is the case over coming months (the medium term) when conditions change.

  • "Let's see how it pans out each month."  That would be interesting to all readers I reckon.

@Telegraph_Sam you can use the Guy Lipman website to get consumption profile data for your usage and this will give you a guide as to how suitable Agile would be for your situation. Here is mine for YTD:
As you can see, I have quite a lot at the 4-7pm period, which I would struggle to shift, being a low user overall, and as we move into the summer months the morning consumption will reduce.
I'll certainly be running the numbers of Agile vs Tracker regularly as we go forward.

I've just changed to Agile. Am a little apprehensive but will see what happens. The speed of the change surprised me. All done automatically in half a minute. I won't load shift much if at all but I'm in London and the new tracker prices have gone up nearly 4 pence so we'll see what happens.
