Just checked my bill, they show like this.

Last billing I had, daily wholesale prices were shown, gas was billed/charged at average rate, I have seen this mentioned on a Facebook group, did you specifically ask for gas to be billed/charged at prevailing daily rates ?

Just looking at latest bill....it appears Octopus have billed me an average, rather than for what I've used on each day with the different rates. I have a working smart meter,so surely I should be being billed for each day rather than an average?
I have exactly the same problem. I have working smart meters set to every 30 minutes, the electric bill is spot-on with accurate daily usage billed as expected but the gas has just been averaged over the month. This was even more obvious to me as I'd been on holiday for two weeks and used 0 gas during that period (as confirmed in the usage tab) but my statement shows me using gas for those days.

I have been going back and forth with Octopus support via email but they don't seem to understand the problem...

I switched to gas and electric Tracker on 17th June. My gas usage graph has suddenly disappeared from 29th June on the app and online. Usually can see the "so far this week" usage box for gas and electric too, only electric there now.

The graph that is shown online is from 17th-28th June but looks like it's an averaged usage between 2 readings I gave and doesn't match with actual usage which I can see on the Bright app.

No, I haven't asked anything other than to be put into the tariff in the first place.

Just message them on twitter or email,. I'm sure they can look into it.

The average daily unit rate used in the Your charges in detail section of the bill, should be your average worked out from your daily usage and the daily rate, based on the daily figures lower down the bill.

It isn't just a simple monthly average, and will be different for everyone.

I assume they do this to keep the summary section as a single block.

This is what is meant by billing/charging @ average rate despite have a Smart Meter.

My gas was last used 19/20th March.

I agree. Octopus uses an average unit cost as Tracker is not exclusively a smart meter tariff. I have been on Tracker gas for years and this is how it has always been done. FWiW, Tracker and the other smart meter tariffs are administered by a small team. It is understandable that many CS team members do not have detailed knowledge about how these tariffs work. They should though be referring the question to colleagues that do.

My usage does appear to be lining up with what I'm getting billed for, not sure why some people are having issues!

This is my gas daily breakdown from my recent bill. Octopus was getting 30 minute gas smart meter readings prior to my change to Tracker on 17th June but now appears not to. Last column is usage from Bright app.

    17th June 2022 8.08 p/kWh 3.47 kWh £0.28          2.6953kWh
    18th June 2022 5.52 p/kWh 3.45 kWh £0.19          3.6109kWh
    19th June 2022 5.52 p/kWh 3.38 kWh £0.19          3.6518kWh
    20th June 2022 6.03 p/kWh 3.28 kWh £0.20          3.593kWh
    21st June 2022 7.10 p/kWh 3.24 kWh £0.23          4.069kWh
    22nd June 2022 8.22 p/kWh 3.18 kWh £0.26         3.5953kWh
    23rd June 2022 7.53 p/kWh 3.12 kWh £0.23          3.1623kWh
    24th June 2022 7.47 p/kWh 3.14 kWh £0.23          2.7473kWh
    25th June 2022 6.48 p/kWh 3.16 kWh £0.20          4.0136kWh
    26th June 2022 6.48 p/kWh 3.16 kWh £0.20          3.5296kWh
    27th June 2022 6.32 p/kWh 3.12 kWh £0.20          2.9922kWh
    28th June 2022 6.17 p/kWh 3.12 kWh £0.19          3.8711kWh
    Totals: 38.8 kWh £2.60                                            Total 33.8671kWh

OK, I know it only involves tiny amounts of gas and £ but it shows what happens when for some reason they aren't picking up the meter readings. They guess!

There will be a discrepancy between bright and octopus, because the calorific values on bright are assumed.
