I was able to switch to Agile, but the start date change to August and then guaranteed 35p cap from then for 12 months.

They are probably the best company for CS and flexibility given the circumstances... My usage is throughout the day spread even and my flexibility to move my usage is nil. However solar with batteries should mean I only draw from the grid outside of peak times which means Agile would be better suited (+ the integration with the hw to charge when negative, free or near enough).

How did you change the start date?

Email that was sent requiring Agile T+C to be agreed to allowed 28 days for that to be completed which was an opportunity to delay start date ......

"Typically, your first bill will be based on the midnight reading from the night before you accepted the terms and conditions, and this is when your new rates will apply from"
Every time that I speak to Octopus I receive different information.....

I asked today about switching to Agile at a specific date closer to October but they couldn't do this for me. I have the email to say sign up within 28 days so I am leaving it as late as possible. If Agile is still available at the end of the 28 days I may let the invitation expire and request another email to give me a further 28 days.

I was also told that once you agree to Agile it can take another 3 weeks before you are swithed as they have to request a new MPAM for your meter. But this can't be right if as above the bill is based on the reading the night before you accept the terms.

With regards to Gas Tracker (having previously been told it is not available to new customers) today I was told that I would pay 6.33 p/kwh (Southern Region) every day until October. I said this can't be right as the unit price changes everyday - she said this was the information she was given. I asked about the cap but she did not know. I asked whether this was version 3 and was told there are multiple versions available. I was also told I can sign up online (incorrect). I'm now waiting for a call back from someone in a department that deals with the tracker tariff (within 3 days) as I just don't believe the information I was given.

I now have a link to a quote that I can accept for gas tracker showing a unit rate of 6.33 pkwh - is that even the correct unit rate for today?. The tariff code is SILVER-22-04-25 which I assume is version 3.

At the moment I am due to switch to Loyal Octopus for gas on 30th September but if I can get the correct information and a cheaper tariff with gas tracker instead that will be even better.

Incredibly frustrating trying to receive the correct information from Octopus.

Maybe they're confusing Agile incoming and outgoing, as the MPAN is only needed for the outgoing portion.

That is indeed the tariff code for the v3 tracker.

In order to give a quote for Octopus Tracker Tariff they have to have a kWh rate to quote with, they appear to quote estimated rate based on previous 12 months which from at least 2020 onwards has lacked any sense of reality.

All the information about tracker tariff is contained within product guide which is  seemingly correct with exception no waiting list and cannot change tariff or switch via switch/signup link within product guide, you now have correct switch link, maximum gas rate is 11p kWh, rate changes daily, you can see actual daily rates.

Sadly, despite Octopus' reputation for good customer service, my experience, pretty much across the board, is that CSAs invariably don't have the requisite knowledge, often answer questions that you haven't asked, and state nonsense.
Just this morning, I emailed Greg Jackson to try to get a definitive statement as to the status of the unit rate caps currently applied to Tracker - I received a (very quick!) reply from a CSA, pointing me in the direction of the formulae used for working out the daily unit rates (which has nothing to do with the cap that I asked about), and who concluded the email with the following statement:
'To answer your query, the formula for producing the unit rate can vary daily' , which is, of course, nonsense.
    Aaargh!
As you say, incredibly frustrating, and has reached the stage where I question whether you can trust anything you are told by them (hence my email to GJ with this latest enquiry, which didn't even help!).

Just looking at latest bill....it appears Octopus have billed me an average, rather than for what I've used on each day with the different rates. I have a working smart meter,so surely I should be being billed for each day rather than an average?

Yes, the rates for each day are listed on the bill.
I think if you manually give them a meter reading, a bill is automatically generated a short while later
