Gastracker.uk is a web page they could use.

Octopus Compare also shows the next day's rates but needs it doing in the settings otherwise it seems to show Agile by default. 

(I find the web page far more convenient than having to open the apps screen, open an app, and swipe to the right screen.  But I guess it depends how one uses one's device as to what's more convenient.)

We did download the compare app but I could only get the agile info on it and wasnt sure whether the info was available.  They arent the most tech savvy people so i'm trying to find a simple solution to use easily on an android phone.

Yeah it's a complicated app, I'm not the most tech-savvy but I am competent and still find it really pretty fiddly.

Pinning a shortcut on the home screen to the gastracker page once you've chosen the right tariff and region might be best then. 

(MySmartEnergy a nightmare on a phone for me, the dropdowns don't stay down and I can only get the right region by typing it in the URL or using Google.)

I have no problems on my android phone using firefox , but it does work better if you request the desktop site

You can get the next day electricity prices on Octopus Compare but not gas prices.

On the upcoming rates page, go to the cog in the top right hand corner and change the tariff.

So yesterdays email had gas day ahead of 73.5p, using octopus calc this should have come out at 3.81p. It was 3.83p.
This mornings email had gas day ahead of 70p, using octopus calc this should have come out at 3.69p. Tomorrows price is 3.84p.
So I guess our day ahead gas price isn't 'the' day ahead gas price octopus use. Ah well.

The chart at trading economics is the price for next month delivery, not next day.

It has very little relevance to the Tracker day-ahead price.

just to make it clear for me. that Commodities landing page on TE that's updating all the time, that's not the day ahead price? that's what iv'e always looked at and so many times on here it's been referred to.

The official day-ahead UK gas market is Marex. They used to make the end-of-day closing prices freely available, but (so far as I can tell) that stopped a couple of years ago.

For longer periods, the offical UK market is the Intercontinental Exchange, ICE. They still make their data available for free here in almost-real time. The UK gas price values charted at Trading Economics here appear to track the month-ahead prices at ICE.

For example, the current TE price of 68.620p/therm is identical to the ICE price of gas for February delivery.
